Beautiful accommodation, you have the feeling of being immersed in nature. The room was a little small having two suitcases but very well equipped and clean. The view from the room was amazing and it was the perfect place to see the Northern Lights!

It's close to the diamond beach and the kitchen is properly equipped. The structure looks quite basic, including rooms, but beds are comfortable: for one night is completely fine.

The staff were very welcoming and the location was phenomenal.

We stayed for one night as part of our South Iceland road trip. Comfortable and clean rooms, good beds and even Netflix provided on the in-room television. We enjoyed really great food cooked in-house (both dinner and breakfast) which was delicious and authentically local. Staff were friendly, location was ideal. Access to the rooms was easy, being able to park right next to the door (useful when carrying bags in the snow).

There are many hiking trails and the staff at the visitors...
There are many hiking trails and the staff at the visitors center was very helpful. We choose a 3 hours hike - to the waterfalls and a viewpoint of the glacier. It was so beautiful! it took us closer to 4 hours but this included a long stop at the view point. You don't see that many bushes and greenery in other places in Iceland - so it was also very unique. On the way back we saw some beautiful birds that stayed with us for a little white before they disappeared into the bushes.
Be aware of the steep climbing that is required. However, all paths are well maintained and marked.
The evening dinners were very tasty! I think the best lamb dish I had in Iceland was here. There was also a good selection at breakfast.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. There was a very hospitable atmosphere to the place.
Our room was a good size and, bar the curtains, had been modernised well. There was also a sink, which was helpful as we were sharing the main bathroom facilities.
You really felt you were in the wildness, and from our window you could hear sheep and the nearby waterfall.
Everything about this guesthouse is great!
The owner was icelandic and very friendly. She even let our friend to use the showers for free and sleep in her camper van on the property!
The guesthouse is well equipped (2 shared bathrooms/restrooms!) and the breakfast was yummy, with homemade products.
The bedroom was roomy, with comfy beds. Everything was clean and functionnal.
The location is pretty quiet and the view is nice over the fields. You can see the ocean in the distance.
The house is extremely clean, nicely decorated and furnished with new and beautiful pieces of furniture. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable.
The host are kind, available and extremely helpful. The atmosphere in the house is lively and cozy at the same time.
The homemade breakfast is delicious and filling. Many typical Icelandic dishes available.
Everything. We stayed in 6 different places during our two weeks in Iceland. We all agreed that this was hands-down the best. The beds are super comfortable. The view is incredible. The sounds of the river coming into the cabin all night are dreamy. The breakfast is delicious. The host is lovely. We’ll definitely be back here (someday)!
the hotel is located in an ideal location close to hofn yet still close enough to the glacier lagoon and other attraction,
sadly the wifi in my room was a bit weak.
The hotel also has a pretty good lobby with a coffee machine which is very nice (nicer than having to deal with the pot in room in my opinion)
The rooms were unique with some antique furniture. Hallways were full of antique furniture and needlepoint works of art. Waterfalls behind the hotel. Almost all food made from scratch
Close to route 1 and easy to get to
Owners and staff were great
Showed us their sheep and answered all our questions
Well maintained guesthouse. It looked brand new when we arrived autumn 2021. The traditional corrugated iron outside suggests that the property is an old farm, but the inside is completely renovated and modern.
Very clean room
Good breakfast included
Affordable and reasonable price in expensive Iceland
Our stay at Guesthouse Skalafell was lovely! Our room was comfy and clean. The breakfast meal was delicious and plentiful. We hiked along the trails with the river on one side and cliffs on the other! Spectacular! The hosts were warm and welcoming. Easy to find. We would definitely stay here again!
Our host, Jan, was friendly and very helpful. He told us about a great 3 hour hike that started right at the guest house. Although the location is about 30 minutes from Hofn there is a hotel with a good restaurant nearby. Our room had a lovely view and the shared bathrooms were spacious.
This is more of a hotel in terms of rooms (having an ensuite bathroom in our room was great!), but still has guesthouse touches like common lounge areas (with free coffee!). The included breakfast was decent, and the location is convenient since it's just a short drive to Jokulsarlon.
Really nice hotel situated in a quiet place in the South East of Iceland close to the Jökulsárlón ice lake and diamond beach and the mulagljufur canyon.
Great choice of food for breakfast, coffee always available at the entrance. Bedroom clean and spacious with TV.
Excellent restaurant with very fresh, home-cooked food. Rooms were well-appointed and had great views of the ocean and mountains. Excellent location for exploring southern Iceland (20 minutes from Glacier Lagoon).
We had a great stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was terrific each morning, and I liked that they had dining options in the evening.
Nice family-owned hotel in a good location. While a bit outdated, the rooms were comfortable and clean. The onsite restaurant was fantastic as well. This hotel was a good choice for our short stay.
A hotel with sooo much personality! Throwback to the 60's with wood paneling, kitschy stuff all around, but it all works! Comfortable and an ample hot breakfast. Really liked this place.
No luxury, but the purpose of the accommodation was fulfilled. Breakfast was Icelandic standard. Easy parking with plenty of space. A little overpriced like everything in Iceland.
