A delight. I arrived quite late, but I booked a dinner in advance. Prosecco......mmmmm
We were delighted with the service, breakfast (if you want vegetables or an omelette, just say it) if they have products, they will definitely serve you.
We were very pleased with the employee Ecaterina from Slovakia Piestany who offered great recommendations to visit around, thank you very much.

The location is exceptional. This place is producing its own wine, and of course in order to taste the wine, the best thing you can do is eat in their restaurant. Now, that restaurant is also amazing. I had the pasta with the wine and it was really very very good. The breakfast is amazing. The view from the hill is fantastic. The swimming pool is very nice. And the staff is extremely kind and welcoming.

The location of Il Pucchio was wonderful - beautiful surroundings and views. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, and the pool was amazing - just what was needed after a day out exploring Tuscany. We used the train from Certaldo to reach a number of towns - San Gimgnano, Siena - and Certaldo Alta (the old town) was one of our favourite places.
Our hosts were extremely welcoming and kind, and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable.
It was a lovely, quiet, private property, and we can't wait to go back.
The old city is wonderful. Worth to visit. Good restaurants in the neighbourhood. I recommend to have a dinner in Marchese Val d’Elsa. View is stunning and food delicious. And the trip to go there is beautiful with absolutely great views. You need a car. It’s a 20 min trip.

Certaldo was the perfect place to stay in Chianti region of Tuscany. It had a train station so we could make our own way around to explore and sightsee. When visiting towns without a train, we took a taxi (NCC). Several people we met had rented cars and they found the area to be very drivable. Certaldo Basso (lower town) and Certaldo Alto (up the hill) are connected by scenic, natural walking paths and for those who prefer something easier, the very quaint Funiculare (1.5 Euro return). We stayed in Certaldo Alto, the historic centre of town. In addition to the fascinating museums - do not miss the Nail Museum - there are B & B's , apartments, and a lovely hotel. There are wonderful dining spaces inside and outside, bars and the wonderful Gelateria! In terms of crowds, there were occasional groups of tourists in Certaldo Alto but many times we were the only people walking down the cobbled roads in the middle of the day. The peace and quiet was most welcome after the throngs of people in Florence and Siena. Certaldo is a very special place. nestled in the heart of Tuscany.

This Medieval Borgo ranks among the most important in Italy...
This Medieval Borgo ranks among the most important in Italy for its history and access to both Florence and Siena. Additionally, this town is the birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio and his featured in his major literature piece, The Decameron.
The new part of town is accessible with simple 10 minutes walks or via a mini railway (for a charge of €1,50); but you can also drive, thanks to the host who will manage getting the required permits.
Certaldo is very small but it sits at the crossroad of major communication roads, therefore it's easy to access Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, and even Pisa.

It's very pretty hilltop settlement but you can see everything in half an hour. The funicular is fun but a little restrictive if you need to leave early. There are some great restaurants. It's the ideal stop-off for lunch if you are traveling back to Pisa from further south in Tuscany but not a great base for wider exploration.

Certaldo is very beautiful! Go to see the old town. There is enough space for parking near the funicolare, the transport up hill.
Certaldo is central for visiting Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra and Florence. And you'll be driving through the most romantic landscape.

We visited the old city of Certaldo in 2 hours.
We visited the old city of Certaldo in 2 hours. New part not much shopping or restaurants. Supermarket we visited as we had a kitchen and stayed 5km out. Close to other old towns worth visiting like Volterra.
We bought olive oil and wine from our accomodation which we loved.
Great hotel. Initially we found it hard to find parking at the free parking area near the funicular railway station, as there was a weekend market in the parking area. We contacted the hotel, and we were then able to drive into the ZTL to unload our cases at the hotel. Alfred, the host then showed us the location for free parking nearby. The hotel was excellent and well maintained. The room was fine and very clean. There is a good restaurant at the hotel. Certaldo is a fascinating small historic town. We enjoyed our stay, here.
This place was absolutely beautiful!! The scenery was everything you could imagine Tuscany to be! The property was very clean and comfortable. The staff were amazing!! So accommodating and just really nice and personable. We dealt a lot with Martin at the reception desk. But everyone is really wonderful!! Also take one of the wine tours. The sommelier was amazing!! Very easy to talk with but extremely knowledgeable. Obviously can not say enough about this place. You just have to experience it!!!
Recently renovated apartment, 2 independent bedrooms - both with double beds and air conditioner, we were lucky and parked right in front of the apartment (but not always that easy), restaurants 2 min. walk. There is a kitchen with all that you might need to cook (all brand new). I hightly recomend. It is located in the lower Certaldo (not in the historical part). It was my birthday and the host even left me a little gift (they are really very nice and friendly people).
Our room - Rosemary - had just an amazing view, wonderful seating area , comfy bed , and a terrific shower. The location , in the heart of Certaldo , cant be beat . The host Sasha , sent us all the info we needed to drive in to the LTZ , unload , and park . Excellent communication , and a nice breakfast. Probably the prettiest view we had in our days in Tuscany - it was a shame we only stayed one night. Certaldo is charming , well worth a visit off the beaten path.
Really wonderful and beautiful villa. Much has surpassed our expectations. Very spacious and very comfortable, including a beautiful jacuzzi in the bathroom. The villa is located on the top of the hill, and the terrace on the roof offers a fantastic view of the Tuscan landscape. The owner of Ludovica is very friendly and helpful and doing everything possible so that everything is comfortable. If we go back to Tuscany again, we would like to come back here !
such history and the location in Certaldo Alto is just amazing. Eric and Ele are just phenomenal hosts. We’re getting married there later this year, and can’t wait to celebrate the day on their stunning terrace, eating Ele’s beautiful food and we’re in no doubt it’ll be a special experience. Our room was perfect and a few days on we’re still reminiscing over Ele’s orange breakfast cake
The location is pure Tuscany, so that alone should be enough! Surrounded by picturesque Tuscan countryside (San Gimignano can be seen in the distance from the property). Excellent pool. The apartment we stayed in had 2br and one bathroom, and a kitchen with everything you need. Fairly simple lodgings in a fantastic location. Wonderfully cool A/C. Shared laundry area.
Absolutely superb, the attention to detail is incredible. From the bedside charging point,to the retractable washing line in the shower cubicle, this is a host that knows what a traveller wants.
Certaldo was only a stop to catch the train TBH, but what a sweet little old town and the museum is superb.
Certainly worth half a day on your itinerary.
I loved this apartment. It was beautifully restored, thoughtfully and comfortably furnished. The bed was cozy, the kitchen very well furnished and stocked and Elisabetta is a wonderful host. She even met me in my way from the train station and took me to the apartment. If you come to Certaldo I highly recommend the Bellavista
The home was absolutely lovely. Very well decorated and spacious. The location was great, just a couple blocks away from the main square and a 10 min walk to the historical center of Certaldo. The host was extremely nice and tentative. I really loved visiting this town and could not have picked a better place to stay! 10/10!
We LOVED absolutely everything about this place. The location is exactly what we have dreamed about Tuscany, the kids loved the surroundings, the breakfast was DELICIOUS, we loved drinking our coffee outside at the gardens and okay chess. It was the best choice in our “
your de italy “ - we will definitely come back !
Best location in Certaldo, an ideal starting point for trips to Pisa, Florence, Siena, San Gimigiano and other towns in Tuscany.
The friendliness of the owner, very good equipment and cleanliness. Close to good restaurants and bakeries with very good pastries for breakfast.
The Views are great, very nice restaurants in close proximity. Location in between Sienna, Florence and the coast. Everything easy to reach. The roads are tiny but that is a given.
The wine is really good!
