Merano is a wonderful city with lots of opportunities for fine walks - easy up to challenging. The environment is Mediterranean beautiful with lots of nice flowers everywhere and breath-taking views to the mountains around Merano.
Especially beautiful is a trip to the gardens of Castle Trautmannsdorf - which we visited already the second time.
Even on Sundays it was easy to buy food in open supermarkets for breakfast. In the evening it easy to find beautiful and stylish restaurants with excellent kitchen.
We also enjoyed our ride to Village Tyrol and the trip up to Hochmuth.

Merano was great, however it was marred by our accommodation which was underneath another apartment undergoing constant noisy renovations, and we had to check out two days early with no refund from our unhospitable host.

The tourist season in the city is mainly between April and November, so some restaurants/bars are open for limited time, but this is specific to the city as a whole. But still there are a huge number of stores that are open and having sales.
The city is very charming and beautifully situated. Typical for rest and light physical activity.

Merano is an amazing place with an incredible Spa, especially if you take advantage of the sauna area. Countless good restaurants available everywhere you look. The botanical garden at Trauttmansdorff is well worth a visit; allow enough time to enjoy it properly. Meran2000 is a must do for outdoorsy people. It's a bit upscale. Lots of fancy shops and stores. You can go swimming in the river upstream aways there's a swimming hole that can be seen from the Torre delle Polveri. Go to the Forst Biergarten restaurant. It was so good I ate there three times.
The Cavallino hotel is located in the Merano Bassa area, close to the train station Maia Bassa.
It is at 1.5 km from the city centre. Nice walking to town. Alternatively you can take a bus, just outside the hotel.
There are 5 parking spaces outside the hotel but you can park in the street in front of it.
Our room was ok, large bathroom with shower.
The windows are insulated, but if you open them, you can hear the car traffic.
There is a restaurant in the hotel. Good food.
Coffee served for breakfast was good.
Staff was nice and kind
The central location of Maison Valentina in the city center is very convenient. We were warmly welcomed by Valentina personally and she helped us with useful information about nearby parking facilities. The room was well decorated and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom has a spa like atmosphere… Everything very clean. The breakfast was excellent.
the apartment was sparkling clean and super comfortable. 2 balconies, fully equipped in all you on every basis. nice and cozy. location for me is perfect as it’s 5 min from the train station and 5 min from the Main Street with all the shops and restaurants. you’re close enough but not in the city. all is like in the pictures
The breakfast was excellent. The neighborhood is an attraction in its own right. It consists of large old beautiful villas with narrow streets tugged in between. There´s a nice 15 mins walk to the city center. There´s private parking by the hotel, but beware, the streets are narrow and might be difficult to navigate.
The hotel is nicely located near the city center, in a quiet and accessible area, with car parking and near the boardwalk on the river.
The room was clean and very spacious, with no noises, and the breakfast was one of the best we've ever had (pancakes, eggs and bacon in particular were amazing).
Lovely hotel in beautiful gardens, excellent breakfast. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. For my first visit to Merano, getting around was a little challenging however made easier with tourist card that covered the local buses and discounts/entry to some attractions
Friendly reception and checkin, wonderful room, spacious bathroom, great breakfast and lunch and seamless checkout process. The hotel has a very different architecture, modelled around a former inner courtyard and each room has a separate design!
I loved the pool, both inside and outside, the one on top has a beautiful view over the city. It’s a 20-25 min walk to the center of Merano, beautiful area. Have dinner at the restaurant at the hotel, it’s very good!!!
I love staying in apartment since we are a big family, its ideal this type of apartment which is modern, wide space, complete and clean which is near terme merano which is 5 minutes walk and in the city center.
An extraordinary place, close to the center. Cozy, quiet environment. Warm, attentive hosts. with beautiful views of Merano. If I come to Merano again, I will not consider another hotel.
