The location of the hotel is ideal, just a short drive from the Rifugio Giovanni Sapienza, where you can find the cable car and the starting point of many of the Etna tours. We were also given advice about some very nice hiking routes that we could take on our own. The surroundings are quiet, and there is a restaurant on site that serves a good breakfast.
Hotel Alle Pendici offers free Wi-Fi and a Mediterranean garden, in Nicolosi, at the foot of Mount Etna. A breakfast of homemade Sicilian cakes and pastries is served daily.

Great location near Etna. The most wonderful and friendly staff you can encounter.

Ideal base if looking to go up Etna. Staying so close means that you can get an early start and miss the hoards of people travelling from further afield.Comfortable room with lovely bathroom. Weather conditions cold and miserable when we arrived so it was lovely to have a warm room waiting for us!

Architecturally and design-wise absolutely perfect, down to the smallest detail. Parking on site, super helpful staff, high chair for babies, great pizzeria in the same building as the hotel, super comfy beds and baby crib, great pressure in showers, excellent breakfast (eggs to order, fresh juices, freshly cut ham and cheese etc - if you don't speak Italian just ask for all of these - ex. fresh yogurt is in fridge, not on the buffet; you need to ask for cooked eggs/omelette yourself). The town is cute, a couple of great patisseries (Russo was one of our favorites in all our travels to Italy), location close to Etna while not too far away from the beach,
Featuring a traditional restaurant, Rifugio Sapienza is just 10 metres from the cable car linking to the top of Mount Etna. This property offers a bar, free ski storage, and a shared lounge room.

We enjoyed the breakfest, there were many options including not only delicious sweet Italian pastries, but also scrumbled and boiled eggs, toasts, fresh orange juice and suprisingly many more.
The location cannot be better, it is a minute from the cable car station so we saw Etna in the morning without crowd of people (they all were there waiting for thier turn while we were going down).
The carpark is there, which is helpful.
Located 1 km from Nicolosi town centre, the Michelangelo offers an outdoor pool, sun terrace, and restaurant. All modern rooms come with satellite TV and free Wi-Fi.

We enjoyed our stay. It was clean, bright and airy with beautiful decor. Our room was very comfortable with access to the garden. Breakfast was great and the staff were cheerful and helpful, especially with helping with places to visit, Etna and Taormina, and recommendations for restaurants which were delicious.

All perfect - a comfortable and spacious room in good location (convenient for Etna parkrun), a varied breakfast (incl. fresh fruit and juice), and really nice owners with helpful advice. Would definitely stay again.

Anyone staying in Nicolosi for a holiday needs their own...
Anyone staying in Nicolosi for a holiday needs their own transport. Sicily is not like Malta and doesn't have a good public bus service, sadly.
Also you need to be a very confident driver if you are considering hiring a car there. It's every man/woman for himself.
The only other way to get around is by booking tours, which do seem to be plentiful.
Plenty of good places in Nicolosi to eat and well stocked supermarkets.
My only criticism really is the amount or rubbish left on the road sides, which seems such a shame for such a beautiful civilised place and is something that local councils really need to address.

Very scenic and a quaint village.
Very scenic and a quaint village. You will need own transportation to be more free to go where you want. They have rosticcierie for lunch and food is lovely.
For pizza, particularly if you have intolerances, order from Punto ICS - excellent and does delivery.
We also ate at La Baita di Rosemary, prices are affordable and they have a varied menu but isn't ideal for food intolerances, though they do oblige for food for children.

Nicolosi is a vibrant town with lots of delicious restaurants. It is very easy to get to Etna from here, and good travel link to other tourist attractions such as Taormina, Catania, Aci Reale. Comparing to Catania, Nicolosi is much quieter, cleaner and we feel very safe in this town.

Great location for visiting Etna and the region.
Great location for visiting Etna and the region. Unfortunately, constant dogs barking meant that we couldn't use place to relax in-between excursions. Host has 7 dogs and most neighbours do too, we took are dog, but he is trained. Host was nice, English not so good but neither is my Italian so not really an issue. Patio of place was full of ash on our arrival, which could have been swept up in 2 mins and avoided being walked inside. I don't know if it is mentioned in the description the amount of dogs the owner has, but if somebody has a fear of dogs or small children who are a bit dog wary, this is not the place for you. You do not come into contact with them but you are well aware of their presence.

Tourist town. I regret we had stayed there.
Tourist town. I regret we had stayed there. Was hard to find an honest and authentic place to eat. Lost of repelling restaurants.
Luckily we were recomended by our host to eat at Scorzonera and it was worth it.
Usually your accomodations aren't the highlight of your trip... But staying here truly was one of the best parts of our time in Sicily! We felt like we were at home. We were welcomed with tea and our hosts set up a tour of Mt Etna and a local olive oil farm/winery. Each morning we had a full, beautiful breakfast and we were never hungry! The Etna tour was also seamless, thanks to our host organizing the details. I dream of returning to this B&B! Don't hesitate -- just book it! You'll love it.
The owners are very friendly. They also suggested some restaurants where we can eat in the evening. In fact they also booked the table for us at one of the restaurants. They also gave us some vouchers to use when we went to visit Etna mountain which saved us a lot of money during lunch there. The location is very close to many attractions and shopping places and the area around the house is very peaceful. Definitely recommend the property .
It was a very well designed and managed hotel with a pizza restaurant that makes the best pizzas ever! Be aware that the pizzas are huge! Although the room we were initially placed was not perfectly soundproofed, the hotel manager was able to move us to a different room with a better location and farther from the noise source which pleased us. The breakfast was also great and one of the best we had in Sicilian hotels.
Hotel is in beautiful natural surroundings, big pool with comfortable sun beds. Room was cleaned every day, mattress was comfortable. Bathroom has bidet. On request they provided iron with ironing board but without cover. Receptionist Christina and Tunisian lady taking care of breakfast were very nice, polite and helpful.
The host was very warm and helpful. The kitchen was entirely at our disposal including what was in the fridge which is a nice plus when you arrive late and tired from your etna trip. Great location at only 25 min drive to Etna Sud. The breakbeat was nice. The beds are comfortable. The room was spacey with a nice bathroom.
Our host was really nice. We had a battery issue with our car and she helped us with her husband and a neighbour. They saved the day !!
She also gave us free coupons to eat at the Etna !
The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was homemade and generous. Really a perfect location to stay before the Etna !
Wonderful stay in an elegant hotel extremely close to Mt. Etna. The staff was excellent, and the breakfast was very good. We loved the decor and the peaceful atmosphere reminiscent of lodges near nature reserves. It is a great option for people who want to get to Mt. Etna early in the morning.
Great hostess Angela, she offers plenty of possibilites for the trips, restaurants etc. She is very friendly and talkative.
Breakfast served in the house with other guests, very delicious. Parking inside the hotel areal (behind the fence). Not far from Etna, approximately 15-20min by car.
Very nice location at the base of Etna, quiet neighbourhood, yet very close to Nicolosi center (5 minutes by car).
Distance from Catania: 15-20 minutes by car.
Denise and Michele provided high level customer care, great communication, short response time.
Definitely recommended!
This place is perfect, it has everything you need, large bathroom, complete kitchen, parking in front of the building, very friendly host, warm welcome, beds sleep really good, very close to Etna sud, Nicolosi is a very cosy village.
The location is excellent—very quiet but close to restaurants and to all Mt Etna has to offer. The room was large and very comfortable—with a beautiful bathroom and a nice terrace. The staff is awesome. And breakfast was wonderful!
We really liked the place, very cosy, clean, nice breakfast, location very convenient if you go to visit Etna. Also Nicolosi, place itself was nice and clean. Host was very welcoming. Would love to come back!
It is within walking distance to Nicolosi city centre- the host Massimo is just wonderful- makes you feel like home. The apartment is large with a kitchenette- launderette room and we had also a small yard
Hotel was very clean with everything you needed in the room. Perfect location to walk to the cable car and go further up Etna. Stunning views away from Etna when the clouds cleared
