Palau is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore the Costa Smeralda. Its not too large and has a very friendly athmosphere.
There is a beautiful beach really close to the apartment and there are so many great restaurants, bars, coffee shops and a lovely Gelato shop all near the marina.
There is a ferry that goes back and forth all day to Maddelena Island which is beautiful. You can either go on foot or take the car.
We travelled all along the coast and found numerous wonderful beaches and stunning marinas.
We would definitely stay there again

Nice area around the harbour.
Nice area around the harbour. A number of restaurants that are perfect for 3-4 days. Plenty of opportunities to go on a sailing trip to La madalane and the other lovely islands around Palau. You just have to try it. Sailing trips can be made in many price classes.

I definitely recommend going on a boat trip, beautiful beaches that you will only see when you travel by boat. I would recommend taking a ferry to the island of La Maddalena, renting a scooter or car and crossing this small but beautiful island.

Palau is the nearest seaside town from the ferry landing...
Palau is the nearest seaside town from the ferry landing between Corsica in France and Sardinia in Italy. Hotels need to be booked well in advance, end September is a good time to visit. The nearby Islands of Madalena, Caprera and the other islands are a bonus. Costa Smeralda is within easy driving distance from Palau. Mind the restaurants they can be pricey.
A bright, big, quiet and cool summer house with very nice view on the nearby islands. The landlord Tiziana is a remarkably kind and sympathetic person. She gave as a thorough introduction into the house and throughout the whole stay we could contact her at any time. We are especially grateful to her since we were allowed to stay much longer until late afternoon in the house than the usual checkout time, since the next day was not booked and our ferry departed only in the evening.
Enjoyed a very pleasant three night stay in the Central Rooms in Palau. We were very happy in this optimally located, comfortable accomodation. Prior to arrival, all communications were promptly answered, then on arrival, Alessandra helped us find a parking space and gave us a short tour of the town, pointing out the places of interest and recommending restaurants. During our stay, Alessandra was always ready to offer help and advice and to make us a cappuccino.
The apartment is in a delightful area of a small, clean, walkable friendly town. If you visit Sardinia, this is a fabulous place to stay. It’s close to Arzachena where there are many nuraghes and also the Madalena islands and Garibaldi museum. Our host recommended a restaurant for authentic Sardinian food. It was extremely high quality and not very expensive. Parking was easy, everything worked, and it was spotlessly clean. Check in and out both very simple.
Amazing location and friendly staff! The hotel is small but cozy, and very close to the port and centre of Palau. The room was a quite small, but the bed was very comfy. The receptionist was super nice and helped us book a sailboat tour to La Maddalena, and it was wonderful! The restaurants in the area were also very good. The parking in front gets a bit crowded, but it's free and if you wait a bit, you will find a parking spot.
The whole place is pleasantly designed and easy to get into Palau from on foot. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The bar and café is excellent, run by very good people who could not have been more helpful, When we bought a bottle of wine, the barman leant us wine glasses as he knew the apartment did not have any.
Stefano was an incredible host. Extremely accommodating. Provided great recommendations for nearby restaurants and places to visit - breakfast was flexible on timing and an array of different options. Great for couples - stunning sunsets, location close to Palau and Porto Pollo. 10/10
The entrance of the hotel is nice and super luxurious, and the view of the balcony was amazing! Location was perfect, it was a 5-10 min walk to the city centre where all the restaurants were located. Also a great stay when you want to take the boat to La Maddalena the next morning.
The beach is super nice and most importantly, it's private - as opposed to some of Sardegna's crowded beaches. The bay view is beautiful and the resort is generally good value for money. Lastly, Palau area is nice and easy access to La Maddalena and island hopping/boat trips.
The staff are super helpful and accommodating. They went above and beyond what is expected of them and even went on to organize a cake for my daughters birthday.
They also organized sailing with Francesco -who was super cool!
By far the friendliest hotel we stayed in.
The hotel has a lot of potential. Architecturally it is lovely mimicking the Sardinian towns/homes. It is very close to the beach (7 min walk) and close to the town. The staff was super friendly and kind. The greenery and location was just great.
Beautiful apartment in the center of Palau with private patio.
Very quiet area, total relaxation. Apartment equipped with all the necessary comforts to spend a wonderful holiday. Staff very willing to fulfill all my requests. Really top
Most centric hotel in town surrounded by restaurants. Peculiar stylish hotel, nice view of the port. Staff helpful and nice. Staying in Palau is a great option if you rent a car and are planing to move around.
I love the environmentally conscious ethos of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and our room was lovely. Additionally, the location was absolutely stunning with a view of both ocean and hills.
The location is great - on the edge of Palau, close to the main routes to all towns around. The house itself is amazing with everything we needed, a yard and a wonderful view towards the sea.
