Our stay at Hotel Maiuri was very pleasant. The room was lovely and clean. We booked a taxi to the ruins as we had a tour booked. The hotel manager drove us and showed us all the hi lights of Pompeii which was very kind. The ruins were amazing by the way. There was a restaurant opposite which served great food for dinner.

Fly to Naples International Airport, 25km from Pompei. From there, take the Circumvesuviana train (40 minutes). Alternatively, drive via A3 motorway (30 minutes). For domestic travellers, direct trains from Rome take approximately 2 hours.
The most convenient airport for Pompei, Italy is Naples International Airport. It's ideal due to its proximity, approximately 30 kilometres away, and its extensive domestic and international flight connections.
Pompei, Italy, is well-served by public transport. The Circumvesuviana train connects Pompei to Naples and Sorrento, while local buses provide access to the city's key sites. Taxis are also available. Alternatively, Pompei is compact and pedestrian-friendly, making walking a viable option. Cycling is less common due to the city's cobblestone streets.
The best area to stay in Pompei, Italy, is the city centre, near the archaeological site. It offers easy access to historical attractions, restaurants, and shops. It's also well-connected to public transport, making travel convenient.

Definitely a great place to stay to see the nearby attractions but, despite having three train stations, the transport links are not great. We were based here for a week and found the public transport frustrating. Last minute platform changes for trains only announced in Italian and giving insufficient time to change to the right platform. Buses leaving up to ten minutes early or not stopping. There is a Flixbus to Sorrento but it only gives three and a bit hours on a day trip from Pompei. To visit Capri we had to have a night in Sorrento which was an unexpected extra expense. On a final note if you eat gluten free the choice is fantastic. It is understood and catered for!

Pompeii is a lovely and cozy and absolutely beautiful town!
As a solo female traveler I always felt very safe, and I was able to fully enjoy and explore both the city, and the sights like the ruins and mount vesuvius.
Note that there aren’t any Ubers or any easy way to get a taxi if you’re staying a little outside the main city core (I stayed at a 30 minute walk away from the Main Street), but it’s very walkable and there’s pavement all around, and some busses if you can figure them out but I generally just walked everywhere :)
There’s also areas for parking if you’re bringing/renting a car or even for campers and RV’s right next to the city centre (abt 3-5min walk from the Main Street).
The Pompeii ruins are a must visit and I recommend going with a guide that’s also an archeologist, I found several tours including the one I took that also went to Herculaneum via GetYourGuide. There I also found the “tour” (just a shuttle bus really) that went to the highest entrance of Mount Vesuvius (leaving a 20min/1km hike to the top of the crater) which was also very cool and I definitely recommend going there too while you’re in Pompeii!

The ruins of Pompei is an amazing place to visit.
The ruins of Pompei is an amazing place to visit. We booked a personal guide with Askos tours. A fella by the name of Alfredo. He was an archaeologist and had worked on the excavation of Pompei so he was full of amazing facts. You can walk around on your own but without the right guide it would be a waste. So many amall details that you would miss on your own. Its a long day walking but worth every step. I would highly recommend seeing it.

Pompeii was amazing - I could’ve roamed around the ruins for another day. Our hotel was a 4-minute walk to the ruins! No lines because it is off season - the weather is perfect! We ate at the hotel restaurant and it was amazing - one of the best meals in Italy so far!
Everything was amazing from beginning to end! Luca is the most amazing host, so attentive and helped us with tours, tips and info of Pompei.
The room was spotless and has everything you need including amazing view of Vesuvius! Breakfast was delicious with various options.
The place itself is down a quiet street but 2 mins away from restaurants and shops with a supermarket next door.
The Pompei excavations are only 5-10 min walk away and 5 min walk from the train station.
The best stay we had in the 2 weeks of staying in Italy by far :)
Not right by the station but within walking distance. The garden is maintained very well and clean. I even got a bucket to wash my clothes by hand, and when I got out a few minutes late the owner was very kind to let me go (haha, but it was humid that day so clothes are not completely dry…) Everything is quite new and with logical design. Hot water is also stable and strong, which is a big plus in Italy. Would recommend if you want to spend 7-8 hours in Pompeii and don’t wanna waste time on transportation.
Excellent place to stay if you want to visit the ruins of Pompeii, which is a 20 minute walk. The room we stayed in was large and comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating — we would single out Antonio, Nydia and Antonia for special mention. A lovely pool which was terrific for the hot weather. A restaurant and winery are part of the property — all fun. A 25-minute ride to Naples Capodichino Airport, so a great place to stay as a last stop before leaving Campania
Modern updated rooms and really confortable bed is exactly what you need after a log day of sightseeing. The breakfast was really good with cold cuts and Italian pastry and an excellent cappuccino and fresh juice. Big free parking next door was excellent to have in this crowded city. The owner was really nice and provided us with everything we needed. We stayed 4 nights and was our best choise for accomodation so far in Italy.
THIS APT IS INCREDIBLY GOOD IN ALL RESPECTS. THE CLEANLINESS, THANKS TO ASUNTA WAS THE BEST SEEN YET. THE APT WAS VERY PLEASANTLY FURNISHED. AND THE KITCHEN AND IMPECCABLE BATHROOM HAD MORE THAN EXPECTED QUALITY ITEMS.
POMPEII RUINS WERE A STONE THROW AWAY. VERY QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD. VERY GOOD SECURITY WITH KEYED WINDOW BLINDS. F
THE BED WAS OF EXCELLENT QUALITY AS ALL LINENS, BATHROBES, PLENTY OF TOWELS.
The B and B was close to the train and the Pompeii ruins. Also right across street from a supermarket. The room we had was on the quiet side and had a nice big balcony where we ate our salads and sandwiches bought at the store. There’s also lots of good restaurants nearby. A kitchen and eating area with pastries and coffeemaker, fridge and stove. Nice staff. Pompeii is a must see destination in Italy!
We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Ettore! We both agreed that this was the nicest place we stayed during our trip to Italy by far. The room was beautiful and much bigger than our suite in Maiori that cost twice as much. The owner was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. We loved his close the place was to both the train station and the ruins. We would definitely stay there again.
The host was amazing. Close to the entrance of Pompeii. Great food and drinks next door. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast he served was wonderful. The croissants and coffee was the best I've had in Italy. The host was informative and gave advice on how we should spend our time there which did NOT leave us disappointed. I absolutely recommend this place.
Everything! They walked us from the train station to the b&b although we arrived late. They were so friendly to my daughter and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The location is right around the corner of the square with the church and nice restaurants and close to the ruins. Pompei is a really cute town that you shouldn't skip on your trip to Italy.
Good location nearby Pompei ruins (1 km) and train station (500m - easy way around or to Napoli). Comfortable large room with quality bed, nice shower, conditoner/heater, shared kitchen and private parking. Just perfect “value combo” for staying around as long as needed. The owner do his best to support you. My respect!
We love Italy and we love the people as short tempered as they are (its hilarious) and we liked our room and furnishings. Very Italian. Francesca was awesome and greeted us with caffeine and sent us on our way with Caffeine. Thoroughly enjoyed being there. The local shop owners are great as well. Very accommodating.
This was a surprise stop as transportation strikes affected our previous plans. Great staff, really good breakfast. They kept the ground immaculate. Everyone there was so helpful and town's people kind and wonderful as well. Would love to visit again! The rooms.. this is larger than most rooms in italy.
The location was great as we were exploring Italy so was handy for getting down to the Amalfi Coast, up to Naples and visiting the ruins.
The property itself was quite big for two people, very clean and very comfortable. Great having a pool on site and staff were all very friendly.
The location was great. In walking distance from the train station. The room was quite modern in comparison to other places we stayed at in Italy. Roberto was welcoming. Recommended a restaurant close by which we decided to go for. Unforgettable experience at this roman restaurant.
Antonella was an exceptional host. She was constantly offering to take and pick us up from the train stations. Breakfast was fantastic with much more variety than most of the cafes in Italy. It was our best experience yet with a B&B. Highly highly recommend!!!!
Comfortable, clean, well appointed. Excellent breakfast in lovely room. Convenient, close parking. Across the street from the rear entrance to Pompeii ruins....the best way to enter the site. A gem.
The interior is so good .. it was my fav stay entire Italy trip and lady answered my cal even in late night and helped me to reach the property, very friendly environment near by everything.
sparkling clean, everything from furniture is new, bed is really comfy and apartment is in the good location right beside pompei. Also quiet neighborhood. Our best stay in Italy.
