The hotel is only 5 minutes walking from the train station and 10 minutes from the historical center. Our room on the 4th floor was recently renovated and was equipped with a fridge, comfortable bed and a desk. The bathroom was quite spacious and renovated. Breakfast was quite rich by Italian standards. The internet connection was good. The only minus: bcs the hotel is located next to the big road, it can be noisy if you don’t close the window. My husband likes sleeping with an open window, so it was a bit of an issue.

The old town where the many restaurants and shops reside is 5 or 10 minutes walk from the train station. The Maison 26 family owned hotel was outstanding. The old town is very walkable and beautiful. Cabs are scarce so book ahead if wanting transportation to cruise ship.

Ravenna was better than I expected.
Ravenna was better than I expected. We arrived by cruise ship and instead of rushing off to another city (Venice or Bologna) we chose to spend one night in Ravenna. Accomodations were near the train station and the historic churches and sites. Ravenna has beautiful mosaics in several locations and a well organized tour pass system that is easy to access.

Wonderful place! It was so very pretty and historic. The city allows you to visit the museum of Alighieri Dante, one of the most important poet in Italy's culture. Also you can visit the Dante Alighieri's tomb. The city have a lot of bar to drink, seat and listen music, restaurants to eat the excellent and traditional italian food (for example piadina).

Ravenna is a beautiful place to visit.
Ravenna is a beautiful place to visit. It's easy to get around the town center and there are a lot of places to eat--across all price ranges.
So many beautiful mosaics. It's worth taking a tour for these. We did a guided tour with Silvia Giogoli at guidaravenna.com and it was worth the cost. She is so knowledgable about the history of the city and the mosaics in particular. Really gives you a better appreciation of the art.
If they block the guide's name and website, it was the guided walking tour offered via the booking site called Mosaic Tiles Guided Tour.

Excellent train connection to Bologna.
It is worthwhile to just walk in a meaningless way to enjoy the city and its people. The people are very friendly and very helpful.

One full day in Ravenna was perfect for visiting the amazing Byzantine mosaics. Be sure to go to Sant' Apollinare Nuovo to get your tickets to the various sites--two require a timed entry, so have your day planned. All of the mosaics are wonderful and well worth seeing, but our favorites were the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia behind the Basilica, and Cappella di Sant'Andrea inside the Archiepiscopal Museum. Dante's Tomb was neat, as were the mosaics under water at the Basilica di San Francesco. And off the main tourist trail is the little Arian Baptistry. . . heck, you gotta see 'em all!
To get the most out of seeing these treasures, read up on the Arian Heresy and the conflict between the Goths/Arians and the Justinian Christians. Different hidden symbols everywhere. There's a short summary in the Rick Steve's tour guides that's helpful.
And when you're tired of mosaics, stop at the covered market for some amazing food. It would be a great "half-way" point for lunch (wish we'd known).
The apartment was exceptional in every way! Fully modern & updated. Cleanliness of the highest standard. Location in a quiet residential neighborhood, but easy walk to the center. Giulia & Maria were responsive to requests in a timely manner. Both were gracious and accommodating. We were able to leave our luggage for a few hours after check-out. If you are thinking of renting this apartment, don’t hesitate. It is a true gem in Ravenna,
A special “Grazie” to Maria for being so helpful,
A new property in an excellent location - a short walk from the train station and in the heart of the main square in Ravenna. Valentino, the owner, was fabulous! nothing was too much trouble… varied breakfast of hot and cold food… our room was large and overlooked the street. the hotel is in a pedestrian area - so very safe and convenient for restaurants, shops and sightseeing. we would definitely stay there again.
I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Classensis in Ravenna with my wife, 5-month old daughter and two labradors. The room was lovely and the staff were INCREDIBLY hospitable, accommodating all of our needs. The food was delicious, great choice of pizzas, but other tasty options also available. The hotel had charming atmosphere that felt very Italian. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone!
We booked the hotel for a place to stay to run the Ravenna Marathon. The staff of the hotel went out of their way to make us comfortable. It was the perfect place to stay with a close walk to the beginning and end of the run as well as a five minute walk from the train station. The staff was amazing and treated us so nicely. Couldn't ask for anything more.
I loved the decor/style of the building itself. The host was a veritable goldmine on the history of Ravenna and things to do/see which was great for someone new to the area like myself and the breakfast was the best I've had from any of the places I've stayed on this trip. Truly a delightful experience....oh and I loved the bathroom.
This is a truly excellent boutique hotel. Helpful staff, great location, a rooftop terrace with a superb view over the city, very comfortable rooms and bathrooms furnished to a high standard, a delicious breakfast and even a small exercise room - I will definitely be staying at Palazzo Bezzi again when I next visit Ravenna.
The appartman is spacious and very lovely decorated. Perfect for a longer stay, has all the equipment for it including washing machine. On the street there was always a free parking spot. The city centre is close even by foot and the beaches are about 15 minutes by car. If you are with car in Ravenna this is your place!
Hotel has a free parking which is great for those traveling by car. City center with all the attractions is within 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The only attraction outside the city center in Ravenna, Tomb of Theodoric is actually outside this hotel. Rooms are clean and new and staff is extremely helpful and nice.
Breakfast was excellent. They had great quality cheese as well as salami and ham. Plenty of fresh fruit and salad’s. Variety of well prepared cakes..freshly baked. The location is excellent. The hotel used to be palace of a very famous politician. It’s situated in the historical part of Ravenna…
If you plan a city break in Italy Ravenna is the place to go and La stadera is the place to stay. Close to the city center, clean, excellent breakfast, amazing host. Mirko is very friendly, very helpful giving you the best advices on where to go and where to eat. I would give him an 15.
I stayed in the Teodorico room and I would go as far as to say that, out of dozens of visits to Italy and numerous places I've stayed at, this was my favourite. The room was simply stunning and I hope to return to Ravenna simply so I can stay at Casa Aurora again.
The location was perfect to everything. We took a taxi from the train station but it was only a 10 minute walk. The staff goes above and beyond to help in any way. I would stay here again and would visit their other lodging in Southern Italy.
- lenient policy to change reservation
- spacious room (junior suite)
- central location between Ravenna di Mare and Ravenna downtown (if you have your own transportation)
- separate toiletries
- good shower
- free parking at the hotel
It was just what we needed after driving all day towards Italy. Nice staff, simple room and parking in front of the hotel. For going to the city center, the car is needed. But nearby the hotel there are some bars and restaurants.
Excellent location, quiet at night even being on Ravenna city center. Restaurants and bars are a short walk from the hotel. Staff is polite and ready to help, would definitely stay there again.
close to restaurants, stores, historical sites. very warm and welcoming staff. you feel like you are staying at a friends home. breakfast was great, best coffee I’ve had in Italy!
Hotel Astoria was an easy walk to see the sights in Ravenna. It was easy to access with the car and the hotel staff were helpful. The bed was blissful.
