The hotel’s location was idea because it was walking distance to all the sights we wanted to see. The biggest surprise is when we checked in we knew we were getting a double bed and a sofa sleeper. However, the sofa sleeper pulls apart into 2 twin beds which was absolutely fabulous because we have 2 teenagers. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were so nice. Rome is a great city if you like historical sights and nice food with Pinot Grigio to wash it down with . We stayed at Cavour which was close and within walking distance of pretty much most things . Its a nice area for lovely wee family restaurants and bars that were good value .
BHEST CHOICE FOR A LONG WEEK-END (4 DAYS). INCREDIBLE CHOICE OF ANCIENT MONUMENTS, MUSEUMS, RENAIISSANCE & POST-RENAISSANCE MONUMENTS, CHURCHES AND THE VATICAN CITY. NEEDS GOOD PLANNING WELL IN ADVANCE AND CHOICES BECAUSE YOU CANNOT SEE EVERYTHING! FOOD IS VERY GOOD (LUNCH OR DINNER) EVEN IN SMALL PLACES. TRY THE VARIOUS BARS 9AFTERNOON OR EVENING TIME. BUY YOUR SITE/MUSEUM/VATICAN TICKETS IN ADVANCE TO AVOID QUEUS. RESERVE ONE DAY FOR SHOPPING, PREFERRABLY IN THE AREA OF PIAZZA DI SPAGNA. AMONG THE RESTAURANTS WE TRIED WE LIKED THE LIFE RESTAURANT AND THE CIPASSO BISTROT.
The street pedlers & people trying to get you in to their restaurants is very annoying. Loads to see. Wear comfortable shoes because there are a lot of cobbles. A lovely City. Little side streets are good value for food & drink. My favourite place was the non catholic cemetery.
You need 5 to 7 days to see a big chunk of the city. Villa Borghese and the surrounding area takes a full day, Vatican City and St.Peters basilica the same (go for a trapezzini and craft beer at Be.Re when you’re in Vatican City) Most comfortable place to stay is near the Vatican where you can take just the main road straight ahead to Ponte Umberto II, cross Tiber and you’re off to piazza del popolo! Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Colloseum, the Pantheon and the Ancient Agora will be a full day too (same day, they’re near each other) piazza Venezia as well! Don’t bother with Venchi, too crowded, too hyped. Try gelato in the one across trevi fountain (has a mustache on the logo - can’t remember the name) don’t bother with fast food, try small pizza shops and paninis. Salumerias as well! Also tiramisu from Pompii but go for the original one. Drinks at Antica Enoteca nearby and shopping near Piazza di Spagna and Como Corso.
If you are fit then walk everywhere. You can accidentally stumble upon different pieces of the Roman history as you walk about. Don't waste time going down in and out of the Metro underground stations, as it's much quicker and easier to walk between all of the attractions in central Rome.
It is a magnificent city with excellent food. Very rich in history. We took our elementary, middle and high school children and it was all relatable to them as by their age, they were already exposed to Greek and Roman history. Plus, food options were easy for picky US based kids- Can't really go wrong with Pizza, Pasta & Gelato!!!
Central Station, Rome
I've never seen such kind hosts in Italy as in Deseo Home! I highly recommend this place! It is close to the train station, but still far enough to feel safe walking by yourself at night. The bus station is in front of the building, metro lines A and B are also very close, but you can also walk to the city center, so the location was perfect. Everyone who works there is so positive and helpful, and I will definitely stay there again! Also, the good thing is that they have a buffet breakfast, which is rare in Rome.
Central Station, Rome
Excellent appartment in best location.. only 100m away from Rome termini central station with direct connection to the airport and the other cities in italy. Spacious flat with 2bedrooms, full kitchen, dining room and living room.. 4meter celling height is giving some royalty specially with the view from the living room over the garden and acqurario Romano historical building . Owner was very kind and helped us to find attractions around the city and book for the opera. Very highly recommended
The location is excellent but unlike many 5 star hotels the staff were fantastic - not at all pretentious or pompous but extremely helpful, polite and very down to earth. We are lucky to have experienced many 5 star hotels around the globe but this is one of the best with great facilities, lovely spa staff and an excellent location too! The bar has an extraordinary manager who spoke super English and was extremely hospitable! We regularly travel to Italy and we will definitely stay here again!
Vintage, comfy and quaint hotel. Super fast internet, very good breakfast, rich variety of food. Very nice staff, helpful polite and smiley. We asked for two single beds instead of one double, they put us in a double bed by mistake. The issue was resolved within 5 minutes. Our accommodation was great, the location is ideal for transportation anywhere in Rome or anywhere else in Italy, for metro and Italian railways. We would definitely stay there again.
Via Veneto, Rome
We are definitely staying at this hotel for our next trip to Rome. Checkin was remote but very easy. The staff is so wonderful, friendly and speaks English fluently (after two weeks in Italy this was so welcoming!!). The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The area is nice, safe and in close proximity of the historical landmarks. Because it’s a business area (lots of bureaucrats) there are many good places for breakfast and lunch nearby.
Aurelio, Rome
We’ve been travelling Italy for a month, and this is the best experience we’ve had. Alessandro is an amazing host and is so helpful, and there’s nothing that’s not too much trouble for him The rooms were modern, clean and lovely. It’s a 10 minute bus into the centre of Rome and the bus stops are right outside, there very accessible and cheap! We cannot recommend this place enough, we will definitely be back!
Central Station, Rome
Superb place to stay when visiting Rome. They gave us quite a thorough introduction to Italy's culture, today's situation, foods, drinks and places to visit. Just wonderful. So kind and sharing. Thank you a lot! It's a nice small walk to the Colosseum from the hotel. There is safe private parking inside the garden, behind closed gates and under a shade for motorcycles. Costs 5€ per bike.
This hotel was the best start of our trip to Italy. Staff is so friendly, left a surprise for my partner in the room (I requested a note or card, but they put balloons and prosecco as well, so nice!!) and they were very kind overall. The room is spacious, beds super comfy, nice bathroom, everything clean, location brilliant .. couldn't recommend more! We are likely to come back.
The hotel was really nice and the price was really good too. The staff were very helpful and friendly and it's not too far from the iconic famous sights. I really liked the room I stayed in, it was very clean and cosy. I also liked the breakfast and there were loads of different options. I loved visiting Italy and will definitely stay at the Cross hotel again when I come back.
The hotel is fabulous. The location is incredible- in front of the most beautiful monument in Italy- the Pantheon. It is within walking distance of all major tourist attractions. The staff is friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. I always return to this hotel whenever I am in Rome.
Trevi, Rome
The hotel staff are so helpful and sweet. The location is prime, near all of the historic sights. The room was just simply breathtaking with a mix of modern furnishings and old world charm. The breakfast was served in our room and it was the best breakfast we had in Italy.
Vaticano Prati, Rome
outstanding staff. went way out of there way to make us comfortable and accommodate our needs. could not have been more pleased. Was super clean, safe, and A/C that worked well (something we did not have in any other hotel in the broiling heat of Italy in July).
The rooms were lovely and big for Rome, and the hotel was extremely clean. Also, unusually for Italy, we found the bed really comfortable. The elevator was fully functional which was great because we were travelling with a baby. A good breakfast spread as well.
Good location only 15 minute walk from the train station. On a bustling street with food and shopping. Of the 6 hotels in which we stayed in Italy, this was the largest room and roomiest shower (by Italian standards). The carpet in our room looked new.
needed a hotel close to train station and it definitely was. only a 4 minute walk which we appreciated. breakfast very good and the best cappuccino we’ve had in Italy in 9 days here. lots of restaurants around as well.
The Staff were very welcoming and kind, VERY KIND. Only Hotel in the whole of Italy, after we toured Rome, Florence, Venice & Milan, that had plenty of ice cubes 24/7.
Fine hotel. Safe parking. Great service. Good price. This is a Hotel not a B&B, we never again go to b&b in Rome and Italy.
Rione Monti, Rome
The rooms where nice size. Offered snacks & soft drinks. Felt like a luxury hotel in Italy would.
