Scafati is Pompei's less touristy, slightly dirtier cousin.
Scafati is Pompei's less touristy, slightly dirtier cousin. The main street near Parco Wenner is just lovely - amazing cafetteria (Cafetteria Ricciardi) and bakery/deli - but the area around the train station is a little sketchy.
But all that said, we walked back from Pompei at 10pm at night and didn't feel in any danger at all, lots of young people out and about.

Hotel was lovely and hotel restaurant very good.
Hotel was lovely and hotel restaurant very good. The area isn't particularly beautiful although you can easily walk out into the agricultural areas which are picturesque. Easy to travel around by train once you get the hang of it. Not many taxis in Scafati.

Location to Pompeii and Herculaneum was excellent.
Location to Pompeii and Herculaneum was excellent. It’s a quick and easy air conditioned trip back and forwards to Napoli on Train Italia. Scafati has s a typical small industrial/ agricultural town.
If you love a Steak and glass of Chianti Anticho Sapori Scafati on Via Dante Alighieri is for you. Hotel Pompeii across the street has a great swimming pool and is worth a short stay.

We liked Scafati due to its proximity to Pompeii ruins, but...
We liked Scafati due to its proximity to Pompeii ruins, but also used it for exploring Naples. This place feels safe and is very close to restaurants in Pompei center. We liked breakfasts at Gabbiano's pasticceria. This place can be used to explore all Naples area, including Vesuvio, Capri and even the Amalfi coast. Traffic to get there and out of there was always easy.
Really lovely. The owners are just really nice. We had a little trouble before arrival so they waited up for us for check in, and they are really helpful. The location is great, close to Pompeii and Napoli, but away from the buzz. The place is very new, so everything is very clean and nicely decorated, and up to, and even better to hotel standards. You get a lovely Italian breakfast rolled to your room. Overall one of the best, if not the best places we stayed on our Italy roadtrip. Grazie Mille! <3
The large rooftop-terrace is fantastic, and not too loud. The kitchen is well equiped. Pompeji and the Scafati train station are within walking distance. The parking area in a quiet neighbouring street seems to be safe.
Summing up: this is a good place to stay, even though with some grains of salt. I only recommend it for visitors who are ready to walk for half an hour to Pompeji and 15min to the train station.
Roberto and his family were so helpful and friendly. He showed us around Scafati and treated us like family. The apartment was the perfect size and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed his recommendations for a tasty and very affordable pizzaria and nice bakery. My only regret is that we didn't have time to stay longer since it was at the end of our trip.
Specially the exceptional welcome and assistance of the owners. Also the location, the best location to visit Pompei and Ercolano + the opportunity to mingle with locals, not always accesible if you’re re staying in a hotel. The owners would take you to local shops and recommend local cafés, bars and activities so you can hace the experience of knowing how the locals live.
Very helpful, friendly people. So polite & kind. Spacious & clean apartment space with breakfast vouchers for the cafe on the street. The cafe provides Americano or cappuccino, tea & croissants with a great view of Mount Vesuvius. A really great burger restaurant & bakery nearby. Even gluten free choices!
swimming pool was fabulous. restaurants attached to hotel were good value for money and great food. Room cleaning was done daily. distance from train data took was only about a 20 minute walk but in 36c heat it was too much . definitely need a car.
The location was perfect in the center of pompei, the room was very comfy and beautiful designed.
The communication with the owner was great! the check in was very smooth even our late arrival. Great coffee in the morning bonus. Thank you! 😊
apartments are clean and well kept. Easy access to Pompeii (2 mile walk) and good food around and close to a mall for any shopping. Luca has a great information booklet for places to see and things to do and how to best run the apartment
the place or location of biciamici is very close to centro commerciale (la cartiera) and pompei. francesco is a very approchable and he always suggest good things👏 we will surely visit and book again in this place.👏
The location is not bad. It's about 15 minute walk to the center of Pompeii. In our apartment we got a living room, kitchen, and a bedroom. All were fairly large and very clean, including the bathroom.
Good price and within walking distance to Pompeii excavations. Smaller town Scafati offers far better prices compared to big tourist locations (food, restaurants) plus authentic local life.
The problem was very clean and cozy. The staff were all helpful, although there was a bit of language barrier thankfully Google translator helped me. Overall it is a good hotel.
Clean new apartment located in the center of Scafati. Great balcony on the first floor with seats and table to relax. My son liked the shower. New soft towels.
Extremely spacious room. Very clean. Large parking lot and garden around the hotel. The breakfast is delicious, typically Italian. Staff very friendly.
