Very pleasant comfortable hotel with lovely staff and convenient for the town centre - a 10 minute walk away - and only five minutes to a cafe and terrace with a great view of Sienna. It would be especially good for the summer to be able to escape from the centre of town easily.

Romantic Renaissance
Located among undulating meadows and Chianti vineyards, Siena shines as a jewel of the Tuscan Renaissance, and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience the famous Palio di Siena horse race, catch the pulse of the city at Piazza del Campo, visit the beautiful Duomo cathedral…and fall in love with this charming city!
Founded by Etruscans around 900 BC, the city was first conquered by Romans and later by Lombards. The Middle Ages saw it becoming the independent and flourishing Republic of Siena, until its annexation to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
The economic difficulties that followed turned out to be a blessing for the preservation of its historic centre. Adorned with frescoes by Ghirlandaio and bass-reliefs by Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Jacopo della Quercia, the Duomo represents the highest expression of this well-kept legacy. The shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, with the Palazzo Pubblico and the Gaia Fountain, is still the heart and soul of the city. Follow the labyrinth of narrow streets and passages that irradiate from there and you will be enchanted by its romantic atmosphere from ancient times.
The closest airports are Peretola Airport in Florence and Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa, though Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna is also well connected. While planning your trip, don’t forget to check out the Siena accommodation deals on Booking.com!

We enjoyed our visit to Siena in spite of the rain on our first day. We visited the Duomo complex and were impressed with the splendour of the Cathedral, the Bapistry and the Crypt but The Piccolomini library was the most impressive part of the complex for us. We enjoyed just walking around the streets of Siena and taking in the centuries old feel of the place.

Great old city!
Great old city! Good to stay and explore Tuscany from here by car. Busses go to other major places too. We took an express bus to Florence and back. You need to make sure where the bus is leaving in Siena and in Florence.

Siena is a beautiful, historic town with amazing vistas, cost small streets and much less crowds compared to Bologna and Florence. It’s a wonderful place to spend some time in and get a feel for what Italy used to be. If you are looking for something calmer Siena is a really good choice. It is awesome for day trips to Florence, Pisa, Arrezo and others.

Siena was so beautiful.
Siena was so beautiful. Fabulous food and wine and so much to see that was inspiring, especially Renaissance Art. Unfortunately, the paintings of good and bad government which we had especially gone to see, were away for restoration. We shall just have to return another time! I walk with a stick and some of the very steep streets were very challenging for me. Fortunately, we worked out flatter routes to take other than the ones Google Maps gave us! Someone should write a disabled persons guide to Siena. Nearby Tuscan towns a must, too.

My daughter spent a month there during college days so have visited in the past. Superb museum in the central plaza and great to wander the streets and shops. Attended a concert in the theater in the central area which was a disaster because of the incredible noise from an adjacent party/facility with a boom box going full blast --- i.e., I would characterize this as a seriously embarrassing and classless situation for all concerned. I would not advise spending more than a full day there. Finally, the place is overly obsessed/fixated on the whole horse race in the central plaza that takes place for about 3 minutes every 12 months.
Roberto is a very, friendly, attentive and helpful host. The location is in the heart of old Siena, one of the most stunning towns in Italy. The accommodation itself looks to be all newly and very tastefully constructed in within an old historical building. Everything was extremely clean and well appointed. The breakfast was superb and served with real cappuccino, made by Roberto himself. The view from my room was brilliant. Great value for money and I would not estate to recommend to other travellers.
This is one of our favorite places we stayed in Italy. The room was quaint with beautifully painted high ceilings and antique furniture while the bathroom was crisp and clean with modern updgrades. Cold water was a nice touch that was very appreciated in the room. The entire home is well preserved and the decor is so charming. The breakfast room was perfect with a view of Siena and the garden. The owner’s homemade recipes from homegrown ingredients were delicious and the service was amazing!
Amazing B&B, everything was meticulous to the detail. Very friendly personal with good use of the english language (an exception in Italy). The location a few steps away from the cathedral of Siena and the Piazza del Campo was really a big plus. The highlight was the room itself which was beyond imagination. Like a real Palazzo, super clean, spacious, good tasted and quiet. Highly recommended, i would definitely book again if i was going to revisit Siena in the future.
Great location for visiting Siena and surrounding area without being in Siena itself. Spacious and comfortable apartment with everything we needed. Washing machine was great as we were in the middle of a long driving holiday around Italy. Bus stop just outside made it super easy to visit Siena itself (5 min away) without a car. Even walked back one evening. Bus tickets available from reception. Staff were very friendly and helpful with advice.
My wife and I got an exceptional level of service, from the guidance to reach the hotel from Porta Romana, to a detailed brief on what was worth seeing inside the walls and how to « get lost » in Tuscany ( Pianza,…). À high level of attention also at breakfast time from the team. needless to say, to have such a view ( it is really as beautiful as the picture) while being so close to city center is a big additional plus !
Pietro gave us all the best tips and info for the area, especially for eating options in Siena—really fantastic! The location cannot be beat, and the hotel was very comfortable and safe. We left luggage there easily both before and after our stay. Very kind staff all around. We had a short stay of only one night, but we hope to be back soon and we would love to stay at this sweet little hotel again.
Perfect location in the centre of Sienna, great stuff, they have kindly upgraded our room. Good (Italian 😅) breakfast in a very nice cafe was included in price. The room was stunning, like in a museum, the celling was amazing. The room was clean and has everything you need! Unlike other places we visited in Italy, this hotel has good spacious bathroom. Highly recommended!
Wonderful place to stay! The owner met us as we pulled into the property and greeted us warmly. He gave us a fantastic overview of Siena and its history and provided us with tips on how to see the sights. The historic villa is comfortable and quiet, and the breakfast is superb. This is our favorite place to stay in Italy! Thank you, Giacomo, for treating us so well!
This is a lovely little hotel. The staff was.so friendly, and the ladies who run the breakfast room are just wonderful. Breakfast is included and it is a feast of baked goods, fresh fruit, yogurt and cereal. The coffee is some of the best I have had in Italy. Value for money is very good, and the hotel is very convenient to the sights.
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this hotel! The lobby was clean and large, so was our room. Very comfortable and well located. The breakfast buffet had a nice spread of food, which seems to be a rarity in Italy! Would definitely book this hotel chain again because of our experience. Great value for money!
Really clean, comfortable and homely full of character. Brilliant location, it's inside the Siena city walls but a short stroll to loads of car parking. Great views from the back windows across Siena and quiet at night time. One of our fav places in italy.
Total experience from start to finish was exceptional!
Very welcoming staff ,upgraded last minute and that was no problem
Very clean, excellent hotel meal and bar/terrace spot on.
A big thank you for looking after us in Siena Hotel Athena .
Host met us upon arrival. This is a hidden gem overlooking the main Piazza. If I get back to Siena this will be my place to stay. Thank you for the restaurant recommendation as well. One of the best meals we had the entire visit to Italy.
Breakfast was the best quality and variety we found anywhere in Italy. The people were very kind and helpful and did their best in every way. Room was very clean and quite large for a single. Amazing view of downtown Siena.
Great room, comfortable beds and shower. Great breakfast. Location is fantastic. The driving directions they provided were excellent. It was easy to walk into Siena from the hotel and made it a lot of fun to get around.
The beautiful hotel is in a great location just steps from the center or Siena and offers the most incredible views of the Tuscan hillside! the breakfast and gardens were also very nice.
