Il renaiolo, hotel in Spello

Offering a terrace and mountain view, Il renaiolo is located in Spello, 14 km from Train Station Assisi and 35 km from Perugia Cathedral.

We had a great and unforgettable stay at Il Renaiolo and we certainly recommend it to anyone who may have a keen interest to stay in an agriturismo in Umbria. The location is logistically perfect for excursions. Moreover, it is secluded but still close to the lovely town of Spello, the town of art and flowers and one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Il Renaiolo is magical and capable of delivering the essence of a time. The structure is beautifully designed located in a beautiful place surrounded by greenery at the foot of Mount Subasio, just outside Spello. It is easily reached by car. It has large and airy rooms which are very clean and well heated. Big compliments to the owners, especially to Giusa for the plentiful breakfast with Umbrian flavours and for the home-made cakes (simply delicious) and tea and also to Francesco and Chiara for the warm welcome and hospitality. We felt we were part of the Renaiolo family and not just occasional guests. Their dedication to service is really exceptional. Here you can also find excellent anti-fatigue massages by Fabio especially to neck, feet and back. If you are looking for an unforgettable stay in a homely and welcoming environment, do not look any further - B&B Renaiolo is the perfect place. For sure we will be back again!! Leonard & Ingrid

Spello is a beautiful, very clean old town.

Spello is a beautiful, very clean old town. The old town is very easy to walk around, mostly hilly but not to steep. There is no parking in the old town, if you have a car it needs to be parked about 200 metres away. You can drive in close to your stay and drop off luggage. There are many dining options and a variety of lovely shops.

Spello is small, safe and beautiful.

Spello is small, safe and beautiful. It’s all uphill or downhill so good exercise while strolling. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous so strolling alongside the fields and listening to the birds is a relaxing way to spend time. The city streets and buildings are ancient and very cool. People keep it clean and so many have flowers. Easy to just hang out in the piazzas. A few museums, churches and points of interest but we just wanted to soak it in

    Such a beautiful place.

Such a beautiful place. It felt like each time I went for a walk I would find a new little street filled with plants and flowers. Very relaxing in the evenings with lovely wine and Bruscetta. We also found a Couple of places with craft beer.

Spello is a gorgeous Umbrian hill village.

Spello is a gorgeous Umbrian hill village. The population is 8300 pax, it's very quiet and calm, a nice change from the hustle and bustle of Rome and Tuscany. The food is similar to Tuscan (truffles, porchetta, lenticche, cinghiale, etc...). Just overall a very lovely village, with winding little alleys and flowers and art galleries, shops everywhere in the historic center. You will find many Northern Italians visiting on weekends...a spattering of Americans and other nationalities. A week is good amount of time to explore the village and allows times for day trips to Assisi or Spoleto

Take a train to Foligno and then a taxi to Spello - you won't need a car once you're in town. Easily worth a 3 days visit to unplug and relax - Spello is an absolutely charming town. 2 beautiful churches and eat at Properzio and Pinturicchio. Don't forget to also take a hike outside of Spello through the olive groves along the Roman Acqueducts and up to the next town. Easy-moderate 3-4 hours and well marked - or just go halfway and then return. Enjoy!

The beauty of Spello and the surrounding area is breathtaking! You walk the pink stone lined streets and feel the ancient history. Enjoy a traditional meal on the piazza. Stay in a B&B in a seemingly remote area that is just minutes from town. The views of the hills covered with olive orchards are contrasting shades of luxurious greens.

No breakfast offered (the host is absent) but there was a kettle, tea and coffee and good biscuits. The bed was comfortable, I slept well during the night. Everything was clean and though there is no traditional wood furniture (which used to be the case in Italy), there are touches of the past : a beautiful embroidered sheet and old linens on the end tables. The location is very good, within walking distance of the train station, but close to the main street of Spello. I would stay there again and recommend it to others.

Beautiful location right on the edge of lovely Spello with marvellous views, but really it’s very very central in terms of wandering the historic centre. The pictures of the lovely breakfast deck are absolutely true. A delightfully cool spot to relax in the afternoon too. Staff were wonderful; everything very clean; breakfast was fantastic. We wished we were staying more than 2 nights. Parking is a few minutes away (and an uphill climb back to the hotel) unless you’re lucky enough to get a spot in their garage.

I’ve never stayed anywhere (hotel or apartment) where every need was anticipated and taken care of. Things useful in an apartment you might not be traveling with - coffee, butter, jam etc. And if you needed anything else no doubt Monica would have taken care of it. The apartment is stunning as is Spello. Very easy train connections and in the flat part of town if moving around with bags.

Thank you and best wishes to you Stefania for success! David

The breakfast was good with sweets, juice, espresso drinks, and cold cuts and cheese. If we wanted, a pan and eggs were available to make our own eggs. The B&B was spotless and very close to really good restaurants and the walled old city of Spello. The host were very friendly and accommodating in spite of not speaking any English! Google Translate bridged the gap.

In short, I liked everything. The owner Nori is a fantastic woman. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. She made us feel at home from the moment we arrived and took care of us as if we were her own family. The home is clean, inviting, and comfortable. Everything you need is at the home. The location is perfect and you get to experience life in Spello.

The breakfast is very good. In addition to the standard Italian breakfast, there were: cold cuts, cheeses, yoghurts, fruits. Location? There is simply nothing like it in the city anymore, it is the only one. I will add more. There are many active churches in the city. their bells are ringing. but in this hotel I slept very well. and the lift was good.

Vilamena is located just outside Spello, and makes it a good spot to visit the beautiful town. The swimming pool is great to swim after waking up to refresh during the hot summers, and breakfast is good and abundant. Nice view of Spello walls from the terrace

The location of the property was right in the centre of spello and the studio was immaculately clean and cosy. There is a little enclosed courtyard to sit and enjoy a cup of tea in the morning or wine in the evening and the decor is very tasteful inside.
