Location was perfect for an early morning departure on the Bernina Express. Rooms small but comfortable beds. A fan in the room came in handy as the room was warm and there is no aircon. Breakfast was great.

Wednesdays in April are not good when wanting a decent evening meal, very little choice but Friday night much better as everyone was open. Merizzi by the station on the corner of the main road does fantastic good.

Tirano was a lovely little town.
Tirano was a lovely little town. Quaint streets and alleyways called to be explored. Unfortunately very poor communication about no train service meant we missed connecting trains which cost us additional money.

We enjoyed wandering around the older parts of town. The cathedral was beautiful and open to view inside. The entire town is walkable, no need to hire a car. There was a variety of places to eat and drink. The location of the train station made it easy to come and go.

Tirano is a very nice town.
Tirano is a very nice town. It is very well connected with other parts of Italy by train. Also, the main attraction is the Bernina Express, which departs hourly from the Swiss Train Station, which is opposite the TrenItalia train station. I would recommend a day in Tirano, to get to know the town.

What a gorgeous little town right by the rushing river.
What a gorgeous little town right by the rushing river. Fascinating buildings and great food ( had a great pizza at LETI DI PILONI AXEL by the station. Only stayed overnight after coming from Chur on the Bernina line then on to Rome but could easily have spent a week here. Everything walkable.

Lovely town in the valley, surrounded by beautiful wooded mountains. The old town is great and the connection to the Rhaetian Railway and the beautiful Bernina line are not to be missed!
You can take an open panoramic car on the train in July and August: https://www.rhb.ch/en/leisure-travel-and-excursions/groups-schools/charter-carriages/open-scenic-carriages
When we travel to Switzerland from Italy, we always stay in this hotel. We already stayed twice here and we really enjoy this place. Clean, comfortable, spacious, tasty breakfast. Walkable distance from the main train and bus station. The staff is super helpful and nice! Definitely recommend.
Both times we stayed in Antica Residenza, we came quite late. And the staff is always very helpful. They either waited for us or left all the necessary details for easy self-check in. We are really very grateful for how they treat their clients.
Small but comfortable room, bit warm in the June heat, but OK. Balcony was shared, but as we were only there one night we didn't use it. Great location close to the train station and a reasonable walk to the old town and also to the Santuario della Madonna di Tirano which is worth a visit. Check in for the hotel was at the Merrizi restaurant, which is also where the limited, but good quality breakfast was served. If going to the Bernina bus to Lugano, it's a short walk through the underpass to the other side of the main train station.
- Very good location in the centre of Tirano, less than 10 minute walk from the train station.
- We were upgraded for free on arrival from a room with a shared bathroom to one with a private one, free of charge, on arrival!
- Free small breakfast (croissant and coffee) included.
- The (upgraded) room had a very comfortable double bed, tv, two bedside tables, a wardrobe, safe, hairdryer, adjustable wall heater, bathroom with a shower and toilet.
- Nice staff.
- Even though the property is close to a busy road, it’s quiet in the room.
We had such a lovely time staying at this B&B! Lori was the most amazing host — our train came in later than we expected, and she was waiting for us with food and drinks when we arrived. We wanted to take the Bernina Express to Switzerland in the morning, and she was so helpful as we were buying tickets (she even drove us to the train station in the morning)! Breakfast was great, and the apartment was so cute and cozy. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we’re in Tirano!
This is an incredible property in an incredibly beautiful location, it more than ticked every box and to say our expectations were exceeded is an understatement. Niccolo and Martina are warm and charming hosts, their genuine friendly service made our stay so enjoyable. The property is steeped in history, clean and very comfortable. It is a short walk from the centre of Tirano and train station. Highly highly reccommend and cant wait to return!
It is a fantastic place. The location is close to the train station and some interesting places in Tirano. Jole, the host, goes above and beyond. She gave us suggestions for things to do in the surroundings and go for dinner. Also, Jole set up a generous breakfast. A Casa Di Nonna is one of our Top 5 places where the listing surpass expectations and the host truly cares about the guests.
Easy communication with the host. Comfortable and cozy apartment in the middle of Tirano with all the amenities one requires for a short stay. Groceries within walking distance and ice cream parlor just on front.Close to the train stations.
Thank you Marco for the great stay in your lovely town, looking forward to returning to Holiday House Viola in a not too distant future.
We had the cutest room with a nice little balcony overlooking the main street. The hotel was just a half a block from the train station. The restaurant next door helped with check ins, there was no check in desk at the hotel. We were able to store our luggage at the restaurant until it was time to check in. The location was perfect and the room was clean.
This is the place I will use to measure all other hotels I stay at. The hosts were exceptional as was the room. There use of modern technology makes it easy to come and go . The location is perfect for the Bernina express and close to the train station as well as restaurants and sights. I have traveled all over the world and this room was truly the best.
Location was great because the place was a 5 minute walk away from the main Tirano train station. I loved my room because although it was not very big, it was extremely comfortable. All the facilities in the room was great like the bed, table and toilet. I had a very comfortable stay in the room.
Beautiful apartment within 10 min walk of Tirano Train station. Brilliant host who left us a refreshing fruit basket and cold meat/Cheese tray. Ample breakfast and great cooking facilities (although we didn’t cook). Good shower and comfortable bed.
Convenient location to the train station. This was a last minute reservation due to the train strike. It was helpful to have a reasonable, convenient option. They recommended the restaurant at partner restaurant Hotel Bernina and that was great!
We stayed in room 7. The view is beautiful and there is a balcony. The room is clean and nicely decorated. Excellent breakfast. The hotel is within walking distance to the train station and very close to restaurants. Would highly recommend.
The best Place I have ever stayed in. Completely clean, updated, and modern. Pristine condition . Great location. Just a 5 minute walk from the train station. Restaurants, bars, and supermarket within 2 minutes of walking. Highly recommend!
The room was spacious. Located 5 minutes walk from the Tirano station and just behind the Bernina express station. The staff is excellent and its value for money. It will be my go to hotel whenever I am in Tirano next.
A wonderful stay on our Bernina Express ride from Tirano to Chur. Clean, large, and comfortable with friendly and caring staff. Breakfast was great and would definitely stay again.
Close to train station.
The location is perfect! It ocates close to train station (15 min walking), next to Santuario della Madonna di Tirano. You can also hike up to Chiesa di Santa Perpeua in 30 min to enjoy amazing view!!
We were travelling by train. The hotel is located across a beautiful square across from the train station. If you are travelling by train, the location is perfect. The breakfast was very good.
Nice location not far from train station, good restaurants nearby, loved pellet stove, comfortable apartment, comfortable bed, good water pressure, clean and cozy.
