The hotel is located at a very quiet section of Lake Como in a romantic setting, protected by several beautiful old pine trees. It's a beautiful and well kept old building is tended with lots of love and care by its owners and staff. It featured a splendid breakfast with lots of culinary options. We found the staff as well as the whole facility was more like **** than ***. It is most likely that one star got removed due to the building lacking an elevator. Everything else, including the very classy dinner that we treated ourselves to, was according to **** or even more. The view from the dining room is exceptional and gives you a true romantic holiday feeling!

Didn't have the breakfast. The location was great, in a quiet area to get a goods night sleep but close to the Lake and the Wedding venue I needed to get to. It was easy to find and the host was very accommodating.

Valmadrera is located on the east side of Lake Como.
Valmadrera is located on the east side of Lake Como. This means that it has sun in the morning and doesn't feature long sunny and warm evenings. If you are into the latter, better stay in Lecco because it is on the sunny west side of the lake. The view from Barè over to the mountains and to Lecco however is grand and reminds of 18th century romantic paintings. There is a vast amount of hiking paths right in the backyard of Valmadrerera. Since we were there for just one night, we treated ourselves to the hike no. 6 to the little chapel that is half way up the mountain and features breathtaking , similar two the ones in Barè but just from higher up. It's a splendid 80 minutes workout in easy but nevertheless spectacular terrain. We were there in mid February and experienced the first signs of spring. The place is most likely to be splendid all year round, due to the spectacular landscape, the beautiful architecture and the abundance of seemingly pristine nature. It's an ideal place to go for a romantic couple's holiday, or for a hiking holiday. Of course it's ideal to combine these two options :-)MartinSwitzerland - 10Scored 10
First of all I had chosen the wrong train station which was...
First of all I had chosen the wrong train station which was Como San Giovanni (from Milano Centrale) In fact if I had chosen Lecco station everything would be easier for me. I stayed for one night. Next time I plan to stay much longer, 5-7 days. Please please arrange your car in advance before arriving. It is difficult to find a car and even if you do it costs you a fortune for vain. That is why I prefered public transportation and instead of going alone Valmadrera is a place to enjoy with friends and beloved ones. It was like hidden paradise.

We found the restaurant at the hotel Baia Di Pare to be excellent. Mainly serving pizzas and pasta but also a variety of seafood and meat dishes - all beautifully cooked and served on white linen. Every member of the restaurant staff was friendly and helpful. We throughly enjoyed our visits. Another favourite was the ice cream shop a hundred yards from the hotel. Lots of lovely flavours and truly delicious.

A small town on the shores of Lake Como very handy for getting the ferry to Bellagio and with some very decent restaurants (one - the recently open 'Alteregocafe' - outstanding). It's a bit cheaper than some places, so a good alternative to the better known towns. Also very handy for Bergamo Airport (60 mins), though Milan is accessible too. Eating breakfast whilst watching the windsurfing was a perfect start to the day. Ample free parking which is such an added bonus. The rooms are spotless and we were made to feel so welcome by the hosts . I love the italian people and the hosts lived up to that expectation. They were welcoming, kind and encouraging as I tried to speak italian to them ( not well I may add ). Definitely want to go back to experience it all again... The villa is beautiful and so well-decorated. The balcony off our room was huge. The breakfast and coffee was delicious! Tons of options including pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, and potatoes. 25 minute drive from Bellagio, but Bellagio felt way too touristy and crowded compared to this beautiful villa and location. We would 100% stay here again if we were going to Lake Como again!

She also arranged a taxi for our return to the airport in Milan. The apartment is beautiful, and very well stocked with everything we needed. There are excellent restaurants in walking distance. The flat in the house is really nice and comfortable with great domestic facilities: everything you need to enjoy your stay in a independent family home. The train leaves to Lecco every hour and you need 30-40 min walk to get to Lecco by foot. There are pretty nice restaurants down by the lake.
