Just passing through on the way from Hakone to Kanazawa, so only stayed the one night and left by 8am next day. But couldn't pass up the chance to stay in an old school style japanese house with sliding doors, tatami flooring and futons (already laid out for us). Well worth it.

Big quiet room provided with easy access to shared bathroom. Having a huge lounge to exclusively use was a bonus. You have to bring your own food but to have fridge, microwave and hot water was good. Remember to bring your own utensils.
Onsen in the main hotel was nice to use as was the absolutely essential shuttle bus from Nagiso station or Tsumago. Very remote location.

Interesting hotel that we were pleased to have stayed in. We were I think the only westerners there and the hotel may caters to the Japanese tourist - however this was fine! It was good to be somewhere authentically different! Good choice of food, it was all you can eat. The onsen was wonderful.
