The only reason we stayed in Chitose was to take the bus up to Lake Shikotsuko. We didn't do any hiking, so a half day was plenty for this part. There aren't many dining options in Chitose if you are on foot (we traveled by train), and very little in the way of other attractions in town. It is inconvenient to check in, the heating is not warm enough, it is difficult for us to fall asleep at night. There is no restaurant nearby, and the transportation is inconvenient. I will not make a reservation next time.

We had to travel to Chitose as we needed to fly out from New Chitose Airport. Nonetheless, we decided to stay here for 2 days to visit Lake Shikotsu & the airport for it offers many attractions. We really enjoyed the lake (very scenic!) and the airport - Royce Choc Factory, Doraemon Waku Waku Skypark etc. We got around Chitose in a rental car and the free shuttle the hotel provided. There were also plenty of souvenirs available at the airport for some last minute shopping.

We arrived by train from Sapporo to Chitose JR station and hotel reimbursed the cab fare of 780 Y. The hotel has a public bath and restaurants nearby are ok. The room had a sofa corner and was spacious enough to open two suitcases. The laundry room was big, with separate washers and dryers which was helpful.
