It was one of the best hotel experiences that I have ever had!
[hospitality and service]
From the moment we parked into hotel, we have been warmly greeted and welcomed. It was smooth from the beginning, check in, welcome drink and orientation. Everything is well organized and considerate. It was really lovely that hotel staff even prepared menu in Chinese for dinner! Kudos to authentic Japanese omotenashi!
[facility and room]
Our room or villa was renovated from a hundred year old traditional Japanese Kura, where you got to experience the traditional Japanese culture and also enjoy the modern and luxury side as a high end hotel! We had a very secluded hot spring in our backyard, which definitely was the highlight of our stay! Champaign and hot springs!!
[food]
I know many of the tourists are expecting traditional Japanese cuisine but our Italian fusion dining experience was just superb! It was a high end Italian full course but with Japanese fusion, such as the concept of “Shun” which means to use most seasonal ingredients and all of the vege and meat were harvested locally in nearby area. Hats off to the chef!! I would definitely come back for the food!!

Glad I read reviews after booking as they made me worried but it was actually a great place.
It's an old school Japansese ryokan, yes it could do with some renovations but it wasn't smelly or dirty and I found the setup pleasant and enjoyable.
We had the room with a spa on the patio which was amazing, food was really good though it is very Japanese so can be a bit much for those not used to it. Staff were very friendly and warm we really appreciated the service and kindness.
Multiple onsens both private and public, nice outdoor rock baths very relaxing and quiet.
In short if you like a classic, warm and comfy Japanese style ryokan then don't hesitate to book it's a lovely place.

Good base for the beaches at Mihama and Odoi, hiking around the Heda Valley, and and going further up to Daruyama.
Reasonable selection of restaurants, mainly crab and fish, and a delightful Show-era ramen shop.
7-11 convenience store has a very wide range of goods, though there are a couple of other shops and markets.
Been here a few times, and each time find something new.
Mihama beach is clean and comfortable, not too crowded in summer, best to bring own food and drinks. Very sheltered and safe for family bathing and swimming.
