The owners of Guri are a very friendly architect and chef couple who decided to leave the big city to lead a more satisfying life with their young family in this charming boathouse village. We felt very much at home, downstairs is a small cozy cafe and upstairs just one room. A lot of attention to details shows deep commitment to hospitality. The breakfast not only looked very healthy, it was tasty and generous, topped by homemade blue berry and strawberry jam!

1. We had 2 twin rooms. The view from the window of our rooms was amazing. We could see the river and the rotating bridge from our rooms. Though the room is not too big, the beds are comfortable enough.
2. They provided free car park space nearby.
3. We walked only 4-5 minutes from the hotel to the cable car station to Amanohashidate viewland observation deck (The view from this deck is called Hiryukan, meaning "a flying dragon")
4. The hotel offered its own private onsen onsite. Though it is a bit small and an extra 600 yen was charged, I thought it was a worth experience as I did enjoy its peacefulness.
5. We all had a wonderful, peaceful relaxing morning walk along Amanohashidate's pine-coverend Sandbar. It was pity that we did not complete walking to the other end of the Sandbar as time is running short.
6. Very friendly hosts
7. We all had an enjoyable dinner and breakfast. The food was good. The staff who served us was friendly and nice.
Exceptionally unique fishing village, clean, well preserved...
Exceptionally unique fishing village, clean, well preserved and yet not deserted by the inhabitants.
I think the population is around 2000. We saw many kids going to school in the morning, in a nice, orderly fashion.
There are not many guest rooms available for travelers what keeps the room rates higher than at neighboring towns.
The seafood restaurant WADATSUMI is wonderful providing good food and a stunning view at the bay.
