Tokachi Nauman Onsen Hotel arco, hotel in Makubetsu

Set in Makubetsu, Tokachi Nauman Onsen Hotel arco features a garden and a shared lounge. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, shops and hot spring bath. Free WiFi is available.

Convenient location between Obihiro and Erimo. Very spacious rooms, all new-looking amenities. The only drawback would be the lack of a shower in the room. Although, the onsen/public bath facilities are very convenient and quite nice, they are an additional 300 yen charge. Still a very pleasant stay, would recommend.

Toipirka Kitaobihiro Youth Hostel, hotel in Makubetsu

Toipirka Kitaobihiro features a terrace and laundry facilities. The non-smoking Youth Hostel offers dorm rooms and local organic meals. Free WiFi is available.

A lovely and homely youth hostel run by a senior couple. It's quiet, and a fireplace was running late in the evening. The interior decor was right out of a storybook. Every corner in the living room felt so personal - and there were lots of photographs of the couple's dog. It feels like you can catch a glimpse of their lives. There were also plenty of leaflets, brochures and information about hotspots around Hokkaido available, which you can take your time to read. We were winding down in the lounge and the boss lady offered us packets of green tea to make hot drinks. The husband spoke decent English to us while checking in so there was no trouble with communication! Although there was only one shared bathroom, everything was extremely clean and there were hooks / basket to put your shower stuff and clothes unlike some smaller bathrooms. Note there is no tub (no issue with us). Clean towels are available (complimentary) at the reception if you ask. You are supposed to make your own bed and return the used towels + bedsheets in the baskets provided at the reception area when you check out. It's self-sufficient so no problem at all for us. The room is simple and no-frills, comes equipped with a heater that switches on/off automatically depending on the temperature. Light sleepers might find it a little noisy/distracting. We only wished we could stay a bit longer than one night and try their homemade breakfast too. Until next time!

The location is great! Very close to the station. The hotel also has a bar and cafe inside which has great food. On some days there is also a horse-pulled moving bar departing from the hotel. This is the place to stay in Obihiro.

Premier Hotel -CABIN- Obihiro, hotel in Makubetsu

Offering a hot spring bath and sauna, Natural Hot Spring Premier Hotel CABIN Obihiro is situated in Obihiro. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. The rooms are equipped with a TV.

For the price, we thought this place was amazing value. It is very close to the JR Station and all flat walking. We came early and they let us store our bags before check in. Front desk had a digital translator which was great to bridge the communication gap. The room had an antique feel. Carpet a bit old and worn yes, but slippers were provided. The breakfast was exceptional - heaps of choices and some English translations on the buffet. Onsen was enjoyable, if a bit confusing (see below) and the amenities provided were of good quality.
