The hosts are so incredibly friendly and were able to accommodate us arriving early, even having the room ready though we didnt expect that. They were SO helpful in arranging for a rental car as well. We had breakfast one morning too, which was super delicious. They gave us lots of information on things to do and see in Yakushima. Its located on the hill, just five minutes drive from the port so you definitely need a car. It was very quiet and you could see so many stars from the yard. The bed is a traditional futon room, and it was very comfortable. We had amazing weather while there so actually had to turn the air conditioning on a couple times.

Very good option as Cottage Kutsuroki are standalone bungalows so no noise issues at all. Extra convenience of car parked right at door, easy to load suitcases etc. Very good well stocked kitchen and finally, after days of thin futon beds, nice to have “normal” mattress beds to sleep on! It's located in front of one of the bus stops in Miyanoura. It's very convenient to move around and close to the Miyanoura port and tourist information center. The room I stayed in was very comfortable, wide and clean. The receptionist was very kind and accommodating. I could do the check-in procedure earlier since I wanted to take the bus to do one of the trails. She showed me around and took my luggage to the room when it was ready. When I came back from the hike I could go straight to the room to rest and do my laundry.
