Wonderful location overlooking the island of Miyajima . Confusing on booking. Com as it says it’s Miyajima but actually is Miyajimaguchi . Don’t stay on gif island, it’s too touristy. Stay here … watching oyster harvesting early in the morning is beautiful .
Staff lovely but the restaurant called European is always shut unless you prebook. We did and had a lovely oyster risotto but we were the only ones there . Catch the shuttle to town and eat there …. Walk back as it’s a quick 10 minutes and very safe . We had two excellent meals there .
There was no dessert in the italian cafe and they wouldn’t get one from the upper floor cafe !! A little inflexible but always polite .
Do have the onsen and prebook the private one for a night … both spectacular. We’d stay again as it’s so easy to visit the island . Climb to the top and gondola down for a great view .
