Basseterre itself is not pretty at all.
Basseterre itself is not pretty at all. There is trash all over and it is very rundown. The beach areas such as Carambola, Shipwreck beach, Reggae beach area, Nevis and Hyatt/Marriott properties are lovely but require a car or taxi to visit. I visited 7 years ago and had a much different experience. I hope they can get the trash issue under control.

Timothy beach is just a short walk away. ‘The Strip’ and ‘The Retreat’ are nearby food eating out with shops and other options near the Marriott Hotel. The host was also very nice

The bedding was very nice as well. Felt very safe throughout our stay. We had dinner and breakfast and both were very good. Pool and view is very nice.

They arranged for us everything we could think of, including renting a car (the car rental representative came directly to the hotel). Beautiful view, clean, new equipment, quiet in the evening and at night.
