Karagandy has plenty of interesting sites, especially for those interested in history. On this trip, I rented a car and drove to Karkaraly National Park, which is very beautiful; I hope to go back, but I will find a guide, as there are no trail markings anywhere!

Best to go when there is no snow.
Best to go when there is no snow. Get a taxi to the Karlag/gulag museum that is just outside of town. You can also book an English tour guide for that museum to learn more. The city's central park is nice and there are many good restaurants in the city. An easy weekend trip in Kazakhstan from Astana.
I liked how comfortable it was. Rimir and his wife were so helpful when I got lost in the city. As a tourist from the West fascinated with the former USSR staying in a Krushchevka in a city with a strong Soviet Heritage was a real novelty and it has been fun telling my friends about that. Rimir helped me get to Karlag which is a very sobering and educational experience. In summary my hosts did everything they could to ensure I got the most out of my short stay in Karaganda.
Just perfect! Very friendly people, who were very accommodating about my arriving late, and quick to respond to any questions. The location absolutely couldn't be better. Right on the main street, but still lovely and quiet. The apartment itself is a palace, the washing machine much appreciated at this stage of my trip. Karaganda is a great city and, should I return, I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else. Wonderful! Thank you :)
clean rooms, sheets, and overall hotel facilities. Very accommodating staff. Nice breakfast. Location was OK - a bit far from the center, but that made it super quiet. even though hotel is being positioned as Halal, the Muslim symbolism and practices were very unassuming and tasteful.
The hotel is in a great location. Their reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The whole ambiance of the hotel is lovely (Art Deco themed). Our bedrooms (we had 3 different ones) were very clean and roomy. We hope we can stay there again!
This is a good reliable hotel to stay in (I say reliable, because two other places in Karaganda confirmed my booking only to say when I arrived that the property was already taken).
I would return here the next time I come to Karaganda.
Many food choices on breakfast, bar in the hotel with cold beer. ZUMA restaurant. Solyanka Soup. Room was quite different than room I got later (different reservation) - price similar. For business stay is quite good.
It’s a very nice and comfy hotel. I like how clean it was. I’ve enjoyed the bed it was very comfy. The staff was helpful. The photos on the booking.com don’t show all the details and nice rooms of the hotel.
Very nice room - comfy bed and nice clean bathroom.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is good.
Breakfast was fine - they had a few different options.
