Eldos_Kolsai is set in Saty. This holiday home offers free private parking, full-day security and free WiFi.

Very warm and friendly hosts. They didn't speak English, but they did their best with translation apps and were very chatty and provided local information despite not speaking the same language. Excellent food, dinners were charged, but at a very reasonable rate. Some of the best food we ate during our trip. Home cooked, wholesome Kazakh food. The entire surrounding area is so beautiful, even if you don't go to the lakes, which I am sure you will, but driving aimlessly in any direction is beautiful.

There is nothing good about this property. However, to be fair, what you see on the pictures is pretty much what ypu get (except for the house itself which looks completely different making it hard to find).

Hotel Kolsay Eki Agayindy, hotel in Saty

Hotel Kolsay Eki Agayindy in Kurmenty has 3-star accommodation with a shared lounge, a restaurant and a bar.

The residence appears newly built and impressively clean, featuring soundproof windows that ensured our stay was exceptionally comfortable. Nestled in a serene and picturesque neighborhood, the accommodation offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks from the room. We were treated to an outstanding breakfast spread, including hot porridge, eggs, cheese, sweets, and an assortment of dry fruits. The caretaker's kindness added to the warm hospitality. However, it's important to note that the village has poor network coverage. While the house provides WiFi in the dining area for basic browsing, it's advisable to be prepared for limited connectivity. Additionally, Google map doesn't show the right location. After you cross Saty village, look for a sign to turn right for kurmeti village. After turning right, you will cross a bridge. Continue till you cross the gate to Kurmeti. After entering the village turn left immediately after the bus stop and drive around 100m, and turn left again where this street ends. You will see a green metal gate after 40-50m, you can open the gate on your own, it would be closed using a wire.

Kausar, hotel in Saty

Offering garden views, Kausar in Karabulak offers accommodation and a garden. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi.

This is a true local experience. You get to know local people, see how they live and feel their hospitality. They have very cute kids, communication was mainly through translator (if you dont speak russian), but it was not an issue. The mom of the family prepared dinner for me, and they welcomed me with open hearts. Located in small village Karabulak, 20 minutes to Kolsai lakes and much cheaper than anything in Saty village. If I ever come back to Kazachstan, I will stay at this place again.

Saty is a launch off point for Kosai Lakes and Lake Kaindy.

Saty is a launch off point for Kosai Lakes and Lake Kaindy. It has nothing going for it as a place and can be walked around in 10 mins. essentially its a service town with a couple of shops, a small medical clinic , a nice looking mosque and is the centre for the national park administration. I think 3 days is a good enough time there. 1st day walking to Kolsai Lake 2 (no food/facilities at arrival) from the start at Lake 1. The walk is about 5miles each way and it is moderate in difficulty. Can be very slippery if its rained overnight as the trail is shared , humans and horses and so gets a bit messy in parts . The last 2km of the walk out is steep but manageable by most , otherwise its an undulating and well used pathway. A beautiful walk and the best Ive done in Kasakhstan so far (including Shumbaluk ) 2nd day, I suggest Lake Kaindy ,after a bumpy 4 wheel drive ride for 12km its a short walk up a road (not along the river) to the lake. Worthwhile hanging down by the lake for a bit. Horse riding if you're interested. (no food or facilities ) On the 3rd day, Boating, horse riding , fishing at !st Lake at Kolsai. Nice restaurant, good food and coffee up there and internet. Boats are fun T8000 an hr. Lots of Yurt guest houses about. variable standard so check them out first. Lake Kolsai Village resort (at Lake 1) has cabins (new) which look comfortable but higher end of the $$ market. Excellent place for a few days and the drive there from Almaty is about 3.5hrs and road is good. I would think it gets cold out of summer season so always carry a sweater or jacket.
