Helpful staff (though not all good with English) - let me use their phone to call our next hotel.
Room was comfortable and clean, albeit with no window.
Xuanmai Garden Resort is a 15-minute drive from Pakse’s centre. Guests can enjoy their meals at the on-site restaurant.

The owner runs the place by herself, assisted by some girls. She provides a good breakfast. Dinner was very nice as well. The doorlock appeared not to lock at all, so a change of room was offered and accepted. The rooms are very quiet, while the resort is just 'off the main road'.
Pakse is a small, dirty town without a clear center.
Pakse is a small, dirty town without a clear center. Few good restaurants, and few people speak English. You have to have a scooter to get anywhere. There are interesting places in the area but not many of them are properly developed. Rather, their best years are behind them. On my next visit to Pakse would like to avoid Pakse city.

Unfortunately I was only in Pakse for 1 night. The city has lots to do and lots to offer, however isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing. Many come here to do the Pakse loop which is supposed to be great.

I have been to Pakse a number of times, it backs onto the majestic Mekong River. I can thoroughly recommend both the Champasak Grand Hotel and the Pakse Hotel. There is a lovely market located in the centre of the town where you can buy nearly anything.

Decent restaurants and good to get convenience items, but not much to do directly in the town. Good hub for day-trips via motorcycle or tour, but expect to get really dirty if you do them via motorcycle as only the very largest of the main roads are paved outside of the town.
Not much nature nearby, all flat areas have been cleared and converted to farmland. It takes a bit of work to get to areas with a bit of nature, but it's nice once you do so. Once you're out of the town the small villages vary from somewhat picturesque and mostly traditional to modern cement. Definitely worth exploring the countryside via motorcycle.
Waterfalls are nice, but can be a bit crowded (by local standards).

We chose the more expensive 4,000 island tour expecting to see more. We spent 5 minutes at 2 waterfalls, which are impressive, in an 11 hour day and that was it! The rest of the day, 10hrs and 50 minutes was spent waiting for, or sitting on, old buses and vans.
The much cheaper Bolonan plateau would have shown us villages, crafts and agriculture and been much better.
Heaven Guesthouse is the best guesthouse. Abu and Heaven Guesthouse Family are amazing people. They are very welcoming, they make sure that we spend a great time in Pakse. Abu sent us a looong message (we didn't ask for) with all recommendations what to do, where to eat. He also booked tuktuk with very good price for us. They can help with anything you need.
They care a lot about all the guest at Heaven Guesthouse.
Such a lovely people.
Wifi works perfect,
Hot water, good bed, working air conditioning, clean room, kettle, quiet area
Romantic colors, beautiful building wish I can visit again, a nice guesthouse near a local market, a gas station and a mall at the real center. Clean rooms, a lot of chairs to sit outside the rooms. Tina sells exceptional delicious Laotian food. The grocery store is near. You don’t have to struggle to get anything for your basics. Tuktuk taxi tour recommendations are very amazing! Tina the superstar host who helps your requests very often. Please visit heaven guesthouse for a lovely experience.
The staff were so kind, helpful, great English and enjoyed talking to their guests. Helped with recommendations on places to go, things to see. The rooms were large, beds comfortable, well decorated. It was closer to a hotel than a hostel. Pool table, large communal area and free water fountain by reception. Returned for a 2nd night after a couple of days on the Bolevan Plateau and they let us leave our big bags while we were away
Very friendly and helpful owners. I just spent 1 night there, but it really felt homey and it was easy to connect with other travelers. There're shops and restaurants nearby, and the guesthouse is also about to launch its own yummy menu. If you're in the area, it's definitely a great choice for a couple of budget nights in a welcoming and warm atmosphere.
One of the best hostels that I stayed in Laos. Super clean, organized and quiet (which is really important to me).
Is close to the local market and many of restaurants. There is also a menu for breakfast with super affordable price. They also charge a fair price with you wanna to go 4K islands (the hostel next to it charge more expensive rates).
Room is clean, and those beds in room are large and comfortable
Bathrooms are hygiene
Staff are warm hospitality.
Owner kindly invite me to have Laos foods dinner with them
The location is in center of Pakse so that you can easily travel around, especially in the afternoon you can enjoy sunset on Mekong delta river.
Excellent value for money. It's an older guesthouse with basic facilities but with a fresh lick of paint. Exceptionally clean. Firm mattress but not super -hard so comfortable. Nice area out front for good breakfast or to sit and relax and talk to fellow travellers. Very nice and helpful French and Laotian couple.
a vey pretty resort.
Ngoc is the most exceptional host and nothing was too much trouble. Her English is excellent and she is very good at arranging tours and tickets.
The added touches of a welcome snack and a snack for the journey were lovely.
The best breakfast I had over my entire trip around Laos.
By far the best hostel I have ever visited. It is clean, beautiful and the owner goes out of the way to help in everything. I even lost the keys yet she was so sweet and declined to accept any money. She helped with bus bookings and the paksey loop. highly recommended 10/10 it is
The rooftop pool was a great respite from the heat. The sunset view from the rooftop or river facing rooms was amazing. Breakfast was okay. The bed was comfy and the air conditioning worked well. The location is right across the street from the Mekong.
Best buffet breakfast of any hotel in Laos (and I have stayed in dozens). Economic room, very clean and comfortable, plenty of electric outlets and good desk for work. Lighting good including bedside light. Good water pressure in shower and hot water.
The only place you should stay if you have to spend time in Pakse. It is a bit far from downtown, but hotel offers free shuttle. Great pool and very clean rooms with large bathroom.
Feel like home. The host always showed us their hospitality and active support. Facilities were new and clean. Come here if you are in Paksé and you will never regret it
Very friendly and helpful staff. The Courtesy bus into the city centre was great. Pool was nice. Decent breakfast. Hotel itself is good and the gardens lovely.
Definitely one of the best hostels in laos. Everything was just perfect. And the owner is super friendly and helps with everything. Highly recommended!
