Amazing restored colonial hotel - incredible rooms, stylishly and tastefully restored and updated. Takes you back to times gone by. Certainly worth a stay - and also not a bad run through to the international airport as a stop if coming from Ella/mountains.
Food was excellent and good menu.

the hotel first of all need a lot of work done, the room were spacious but other than that nothing was good about the hotel. we stayed there for one night and we had enough of it.
I mean I would give 5star if you want insta worthy pics as the pool is located in a good place where you can get to dee all the elephants coming and bathing, but apart from that there was nothing good.

This place is so wonderful I extended my stay and will definitely be back!
Everything was perfect, the food was delicious, the hospitality, the room, the pool to cool down on a hot day, great location making it easy to go to other parts and also lovely to just sit and relax surrounded by nature reading a book or writing.
Plus, Anushka really knows the island and is a great tour guide!

Gayashan is the most amazing host, friendly and humble, picked me up from the airport, we did a 2 day trip to the mountains, he drove me to a lot of nice places and was always helpful and courteous.
The accommodation is simple but has a special natural touch, lot of plants and beautifully designed rooms. Breakfast is plenty and yummy. Access to town is easy by rickshaw, you’ll find restaurants there as well. One feels very welcome here!

The staff were very obliging. We arrived at 1am, this was not a problem and they greeted us warmly. Next morning we watched elephants in river from our balcony. The events coordinator took us to a place where we could walk and swim with elephants. He stopped on side of road on way back to try coconut milk. Wonderful staff. We found the breakfast not quite to European tastes.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the complete hotel staff for their remarkable kindness and assistance, which undoubtedly enhanced our stay. We reserve special gratitude for Andrew, our tour guide, whose warm welcome and generous gesture of taking us on a village tour with his car left a lasting impression.
Most notably, witnessing the elephants relishing their river bath was an extraordinary experience. The soothing sound of the river from our room added a truly relaxing touch to our stay.

We stayed in the beautifull place Luck Uyana Cabana, with very nice spice garden. They offer guided tour in the garder for free with foot massage. You can enjoy long massage and pay for it.
They offer discount for elephant ride and bath with Millenium Elephant foundation which is just next door.
Unfortunately we got ride by Tuk Tuk from the bus station and he reocmend some other - cheeper, but not so clean place for elephant bath. We did not have time to go to Pinnawala itself.

Pinnawala is an elephant orphanage with some axillary tourist services around. Keep in mind that the elephants are the priority and you get the opportunity to be there with them in the comfort of a nice hotel. Plan to arrive after 4PM if you are staying in a hotel by the river as the elephants are moving between the river and the orphanage. They came down three times during the day I was there. Fantastic.

It would have been nice to have had time to sit and have lunch watching the elephants and relaxing. There is also a range of shops to explore and I think a chance to go visit the orphanage in addition to seeing the elephants being bathed.
This hotel has the best location if you want to see the bathing elephants. The best time is in the morning at 10 a.m. to noon when they come close and you can admire the elephants even from the swimming pool. So it's better to stay one night checking in after 4 p.m. and next morning enjoy the bathing elephants from your suite or swimming pool (check out is about 12 p.m.). The stuff is friendly, they shared bananas with us to feed the elephants.
The rooms very super nice , the views where amazing .
Had a really nice time staying there .
Went on 2 tours with Andrew and he was amazing !!
He took me to the village and waterfalls , tea factory and a herbal garden the first day and that was very nice , next day we went to the tower and he had no problem driving me there at 5 am , he also took me to a nice local lunch place in Kandy so I had the best time . Would recommend,
Kavi and Nipuna Made our Stay one of the best ever althiugh everyone was amazing. Weiters were more than amazing in all possible aspects. The couple that took care of the peackock village was so hard to say Goodbye too and the lady cooks the best local Fresh Food for an affordable price. The breakfest and enjoying the pool at grand Royal were very Well organized sonce the hotel offered tuk tuk rides there and back at anytime 😊
I liked it a lot. When I entered they put a welcome sign on me. It has a terrace, living room, large computer room, toilet, dining room. Kasum the host is exceptional, he picked me up and took me to the station, he took me to the Elephant Orphanage and other places. He is an unbeatable tour guide. In fact I work 10 years in airlines. Totally recommended. One 10 in everything. My experience with elephants is amazing.
Excellent place, spacious rooms, with a lot of vegetation. Anushka is very kind, as is his family. He is a very good guide, he knows a lot about his country and its tourist attractions.
If you have any questions, I recommend that you ask anything, he will help you.
It was an incredible day in their cottage and the typical Sri Lanka breakfast was amazing 🤩🤩
I will back , I’m sure 🫶🏻☺️
For the price point, this is the best place to stay if you're planning to visit Pinnawala. If you want to see the elephants walking through the town, get a balcony room or just sit by the eating area. You also have access to the river area where the elephants bathe, without having to pay for the orphanage fee.
This hotel offers a serene retreat amidst lush greenery. From seamless check-in to stunning views from spacious rooms👌, every detail is meticulously crafted. Culinary delights and thoughtful amenities like a pool to enhance the experience.Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway in Pinnawala.😃

A nice place and the staff will get to know you well. the pool is really nice and the villas are comfy and cool. Great location, good value, I wold stay here again. The rooms feel off to the side and away from
the busy street.
The location was perfect to see the elephants. The elephants walked right by the hotel entrance. And the owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. We will definitely visit again!
The staff was friendly and helpful.
Located just opposite the elephant orphanage.
Room was clean and newly built.
Food was average, ok for the price. Overall good value for the price.
Nice quiet place, and you vcan watch the elephant bathing from the pool of the main hotel!
Andrew was a great host, super helpful and super friendly!
Highly recommend location!
Hotel is located in a very beautiful area with coconut forest and river right infront. View is amazing from the room. Staffs were friendly. We had a good stay overall.
Normally I go for cheaper options, but this one was worth the price. Clean and comfortable, elephant orphanage right across the street. I would definitely come back.
A perfect stopover between Colombo and Kandy and beyond. Full of old world charm and the tour of the hotel was great! Staff friendly and accommodating!
