Wonderful location, among mountains, forest, rice field and river. At night you can see a large number of fireflies right in the yard, monkeys near the river, beautiful mountains right in front of the house and a rice field where an elephant sometimes enters. lovely hostess, kind and helpful:)

Food was excellent. Fantastic Sri Lanka curry
Hotel staff must be polite and truthful. Guides must know the routes otherwise. We were lost in the jungle several times and some paths we travel I don't recommend for female travelers. There was no food nor chef. Nearest town is more than 20km away. And villagers disturbed us at night we were very scared and didn't even slept. And about paasi ella 10 km hike is not worthy for that. Overall waste of money and time

Wellawaya is an untouched paradise. Much nicer than busy and polluted ella . The accommodation in the area is set in a lush tropical setting without the billboards and tourists. We loved it most out of the 12 days we spent in sri Lanka
