Meeting Zakia is worth the visit to this lovely town. From the moment we arrived, Zakia welcomed us like family. She shared her courageous and passionate journey to open the town to foreign visitors and champion progress for rural women. She is a most incredible person. The home/hotel is thoughtfully decorated and somewhat museum-like with many traditional Moroccan antiques. We were very comfortable. So glad we chose to stay here.

The staff helped me with a train reservation and arranged for a taxi. A map of the area is provided for both an area hike and directions to the Roman Ruins Volubilis. I highly recommend. Very relaxing. Wish I had been able to spend another night.

Locals will offer to transport your luggage on donkey’s back if needed. The house has an artist vibe about it yet has preserved beautiful ceiling in our bedroom. Rose, the owner, is also involved in charitable projects. Meals are taken on the rooftop offering a beautiful view of the valley. Worth having dinner there as the girls are superb cooks. We drank the water as suggested and had no issues which was a nice feature. I hate buying so much water. It was easy access to Volubilis and the town square. They can arrange all sorts of things for you from the Riad if you just ask. We arranged a driver to Fes but they offer donkey rides and other things. It is walking distance to Volubilis but I’d drive the back road through the olive orchards.
