I think 4-5 days is probably about right.
I think 4-5 days is probably about right. We loved the history, the architecture, the public transport system and ferries which made it easy to get about. Beware the ferries are often disrupted if there are high winds which is fairly frequently in April. Don't miss the co - cathedral, the 4pm battery salute, the Lasaris war rooms, Cafe Cordina. There is a great view from the M&S Cafe on the 4th Floor in Sliema. The people are friendly and helpful. I felt very safe.ShelaghUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

No need to go further afield as there is plenty to see and do in Valletta. Favourite wine bar was Why Not? - lovely Maltese Platter. Lots of hills and steps but easy to find your way around. Did the Food Tour with City Walking Tours Malta - highly recommended.

I liked Valletta: It has a lot of interesting historical points, its own style of architecture and was full of character. The place is relatively small and therefore accessible to a fit person. There are streets which are made up of steps. The city has many excellent bars and restaurants as well as small grocery shops. It also has a couple of theatres. The city is clean and safe. There is a very good public bus service connecting the city with the rest of the island.

What a magical city!
What a magical city! So much history and worth exploring around the Island to see the different influences. We left wanting more and are already planning our next trip. The local wine was a lovely suprise - we absolutely could not get enough of it! And the quality of food that we tried was exceptional. I don't know why I sound so surprised but I really genuinely came away from our weekend away thinking it was one of the best mini-vacations we have had. Not to mention how darned friendly the locals are.

Valletta is definitely worth a trip especially if you are interested in history and architecture. However there are also other parts of Malta that are worth going to as well as Valetta. The three days we spent there was enough. Be aware that it is very busy with tourists even on off peak seasons.MaireadIreland

The balcony we thought it had is a "closed balcony" typical of the maltese architecture, so no smoking on the balcony, but there is a terrace on the top floor with a couple of tables and a great view. We were able to store our luggage until our flight in the afternoon, the host was very polite and helpful, the communication with the host was really good as well.
