Beautiful hotel, really well looked after. It is so serene and the outside space is like paradise. Beautiful clean pool and a good size, lots of comfy sunbeds. The staff are incredibly helpful especially Louis, he made sure we were really well looked after. Spacious, clean, comfy rooms. Great design, and with everything you need. Good location, quiet but close to shops and the beach. We would definitely go back.

A sweet, unpolished beach town.
A sweet, unpolished beach town. There are no huge multinational hotels on the beach, just low-rise local hotels and apartments. The strip along the beach feels relaxed, calm and slightly down-at-heel. It's easy to explore on foot. As two solo women travellers, we felt safe throughout our stay, though we didn't leave the tourist area. The beach itself is huge and very long, with incredible surf waves. There is a small beach area at the north end where it's possible to swim, but the waves are still quite big, especially for children. There are lifeguards all along the beach. There are nice restaurants right on the beachfront, all serving the same simple food. We only stayed two nights - I think at least four nights are needed to really relax and get used to the pace of life here. There are also several excursions nearby which would have been fun if we'd had more time!

A huge long beach, Zicatela is a lovely place but will change very soon with all the development and construction going on.
Already lots of bars, restaurants, shops and hotels, but still relatively chilled at the moment.
Beware of what you carry, police search anyone they can on the beach to extort money!!

Even if a relatively small town the neighbourhoods are very different; Centro where the hotel is, more local people, Bacocho (a bit more hipster was my impression), Zicatela the touristic part with a lovely beach and Brisas de Zicatela where its mostly backpackers and surfers (its just off Punta Zicatela where the best waves are)

It grew on me. I didn't love it at first.
It grew on me. I didn't love it at first. I think its more suited to younger people than people in their mid 40s + who have already done the backpacking thing. Also I live on a beautiful beach in Australia so it's hard to be impressed by grey sand of Zacatelas beach.. However Carrizalillo beach was beautiful. I recommend visiting that beach while you are there.
I felt like a bit of a sellout as Puerto is not the real mexico, there are more Australians and Americans there than Mexicans it seems. So if you want an authentic Mexican experience you should go to Puebla or Mexico city, but if your looking for a chilled vibe on the beach then you will probably like Puerto.
You'll find better food in other parts of the country also - Oaxaca city, Meixco city, Puebla etc.
It's very hot there. but there's nothing much else to do than hang at the beach.

Overall was great trip.
Overall was great trip. The town feels more international compared to other places I’ve visited in mexico, it lacks that authentic Mexican feeling. The hotel was great, tucked away from the Main Street, very peaceful.

Best falafels and hummus et El Sultan on the Rinconada.
Best falafels and hummus et El Sultan on the Rinconada. Best whole bean coffee as well as cappuccino and cookies at Binisa Cafe. As expats living in San Agustinillo, an hour away, we find things in Puerto that we cannot find in San Agustinillo, Mazunte, or Zipolite. We found some really excellent sharp cheddar cheese at Super 69 grocery on the Rinconada, cans of white meat whole tuna packed in water also at Super 69, bought beautiful Talavera tile for our bathroom at the Talavera store on the Rinconada, and picked up health food products like chia at one of the many small health food stores in Puerto that sell bulk goods.

Perfection. Simply bliss.
If you want a beautiful room in a super quiet location, don't hesitate to book. Great size room, massive comfortable bed, and lovely bathroom area.
By far our favorite place we stayed in Mexico. Afternoons chilling by the pool after a morning at the beach were so, so relaxing. Staff really helpful as well.
The restaurant next door Chill a kill is a must visit as well. Great food (inc vegan) and killer cocktails.
The beach is a short walk away and worth the stairs to get to!
I like so much the Selina's style. Specially Puerto Escondido is excellent. They have plenty options not only shared rooms, a restaurant, the bar (tasty mixology), two swimming pools, other bar at the roof top with a nice view to the beach, the library, the kitchen, the wellness area. Everyday day have different activities like karaoke, cinema, among others. It can be a party place but also a place to rest. The best, it is located in front of Zicatela beach, I loved It.
The property is beautiful and comfortable. One of the few places we stayed at on the Oaxacan coast that had hot water. We showed up several hours earlier before the check in and were able to just hang out at the pool - the staff is very welcoming and accommodating. If you have a chance, take a boat tour to see dolphins and whales offered at the reception. A couple of people who work at the hotel are the ones who also own the boat and take you out.
Very good air-conditioning, intermittent hot shower, very comfy bed. Nice open aspect with a garden, very modern & quiet. Very close to playa Carazillo & the restaurants. No road noise, a bit of construction but not noisy and finished by 4pm. Rogellio greeted us and was very friendly. We booked about 5mins before we arrived and this was no problem. Lovely towels & 2 pillows (a first in 3.5 weeks in Mexico!) plus TV with sky & Netflix.
this one hostel made my experience of puerto Escondido go from “I like it” to “I love it”. I wish all hostel owners would stay in a hostel like this one and take notes on how to design a hostel for optimal social interaction and how to treat guests to make them feel like family.
I’ve stayed at many hostels throughout the world and I can count on one hand how many truly made me feel like I was at home. this is one of them.
The staff, the beautifully decorated rooms and rooftop hammocks to relax in. This boutique hotel has such a relaxed and warm, welcoming vibe. I first stayed in Casa Beu in January and had to come here again for my second visit to Puerto Escondido. It's close to the main street in La Punta but far enough away for a quiet night's sleep. I almost don't want to let the secret out on how awesome this place is ;)
Definitely the rooftop terrace with an amazing view! The host Steph was very helpful, gave us a good recommendation of an authentic local taco place with the most spicy salsas we had in all of Mexico. Wifi was strong and reliable. Also the place somehow attracts guests with a very laid back vibe. The neighbourhood is not touristy, we enjoyed that. The colectivo to Puerto is running regularly from closeby.
Hotel Villa Mozart y Macondo was the the best Hotel so far on our Mexico trip. The lovely garden with hammocks is great to chill and the restaurant serves delicious breakfast.
The hotel is located close to the road Benita Juárez with many restaurants and small shops and to the Beach Carrizalillo.
Furthermore Angelica is a great Host. She gave us a map with many recommendations for our stay :)
Clean, well-kept grounds, quiet in the rooms and couldn’t hear any street noise. Nice community areas and inclusive staff! The location is excellent because it’s an easy walk to the nicest beaches in Puerto Escondido with plenty of eating choices nearby and it’s very quick to the airport.
We love the neighborhood near the hotel. There are multiple restaurants and shops nearby as well as Carazalillo Beach. The pool was a lovely bonus. We have tried to stay here before on overnight visits to Puerto Escondido but the hotel always required a minimum two day stay.
After reading some of the reviews I wasn't expecting much from this place but we were really pleased. Comfy beds, strong wifi, balcony that caught the sun with ocean views. Shower had hot water too, which seems to be rare in Mexico! Staff were super lovely 👍
staff were very friendly and helpful. This is a really cool hotel, there’s a great atmosphere and it’s sociable, the rooftop restaurant was amazing, some of the best breakfast food I’ve had in Puerto Escondido and there is a pool bar.
- location good, la punta is the best place to stay in puerto escondido and from the hotel its 10min to the restaurants/bars while the hotel is rather quite
- staff was friendly
- price okay compared to surrounding hotels
- Staff were truly wonderful
- Internet was Starlink so quite good for Puerto Escondido
- Bed was large and comfortable with lots of pillows
- Shower was hot with good pressure
Nice room with a modern look. It was the first hot shower I’ve had in traveling Mexico for three weeks. Close to many restaurants and bars. Nice common area and kind host.
