Tapachula is a good overnight point for crossing the border...
Tapachula is a good overnight point for crossing the border with Guatemala at either Ciudad Hidalgo /Tecún Umán or Talisman /El Carmen. You can stock up on your favorite things before going to Guatemala where availability is scarce or imported goods cost a lot of money, but check first on import taxes or restrictions before buying stuff to take into Guatemala. There are a lot of supermarkets, Home Depot, Auto Zone, Walmart, Starbucks, lots of restaurants of all types and for all budgets. Downtown is lively, but traffic can be bad, airport outside of town has flies to many locations in Mexico.

Tapachula is nice for me doing migrant work.
Tapachula is nice for me doing migrant work. There are some great restaurants. People are exceptionally friendly. But the city is hot and crowded. I wouldn't recommend for the average tourist.

Unfortunately due to the Corona virus I mostly stayed in the room and in the hotel, apart from buying food and a new blouse.
All local cultural sights were closed but the shops were open and lots of people were out and about. Very few wore masks unlike in Antigua which was almost a ghost town when we left.
I’d just travelled from Guatemala on a chicken bus and was very tired so can’t comment much on the town.
The hotel was so helpful and friendly though, the staff sang as they worked!

I like Tapachula very much, but don't think this is a place for novice travelers. It's very hot and bustling. Extreme poverty is very evident, partly because of the tens of thousands of migrants stranded here. I think Tapachula has little to recommended it within the city limits, though there are interesting Maya ruins nearby and beaches about an hour away. I have found several great restaurants, though.

Tapachula is the entry point into Mexico for Central Americans and refugees from all over the world. There are some pretty and extremely interesting ruins outside of towns, and the beach is not too far. Ultimately, thought, I don't think Tapachula would be considered comfortable for most Americans.
Charming hotel in perfect location for accessing city center of Tapachula. This is my second time staying in the hotel. Small, nice pool to cool off on hot days, and good A/C in rooms. Able to order drinks and snacks, but unfortuantely the restaurant was closed. Staff is lovely and very helpful. Very safe and very clean. I am looking forward to the next visit.
Leandro made our stay unforgettable. He’a an angel. If you come to this hotel, ask for Leandro, he speaks English very well and basic French, maybe some German too. He will do his best to make your stay one of the best stays, with information, food orders in the city, calling a taxi, helping you out with everything you might need. He is one of a kind.
All the facilities were very nice, very well arranged, in a perfect location near the river, in the center of the jungle. We enjoyed that everything they serve in the restaurant they produce by themselves and in general food was very delicious; hotel is very sustainable. Stuff is very very nice, especially our tour guide - Ivan.
The hotel is located around 8 minutes away from the OCC bus stop and around the same time to get to the centre by walk. Also there is an OXXO shop 4-5 minutes away. The room was very big and the bed clean. They also let us check in and out 1 hour after the regular time, which we highly appreciated.
Beautiful location, the view is amazing, every where green, very friendly staff, we made a tour through the coffee fields, factory and all the process, the guide was very friendly, professional with a lot of knowledge, we learned a lot about coffee.
This hotel is quite basic but the beds and showers are OK. The location is good. There is enough parking, a small pool and the staff is very friendly and helpful!
The value is in line with the price.
Everything about the hotel was good. The breakfast was very good. The staff was friendly, The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The room was quiet. Really, what else would you want?
Nothing, no complimentary breakfast, they harrased us as if we didnt pay for an extra day. Very poor service, i recommend people go to Don Miguelo, very good hotel
