Though small the room had all it needed. It was qiet and the air-conditioning worked efficiently and with virtually no noise. The bathroom had a good size. Above all the floors and everything else was absolutely clean! To even top it, the owner was very friendly and extremely helpful in any way. For example, when we needed cash he took us to every single ATM in Xilitla (as a hint: don't rely on ATMs in Xilitla, bring enough cash with you 😉)

Perfect location to the garden of Edward James - only 10mins walking! To town it’s a bit longer (35mins) but the walk is beautiful! The beds are comfortable, it was clean and quiet.

It’s a well established, Huge hotel with about 60 rooms, but sparsely occupied. 6 floors built on a steep slope by the mountain, entrance on 4th floor accessible by road. They maintain it very well, very clean. The room is cleaned everyday, trash discarded and towels changed. The price is very reasonable. Looks like most rooms got huge double windows, My room got great mountain sunrise view. So great that there are no mosquitos and is very sunny throughout the morning. The Shower is good & strong & hot. The Sink is clean and big even to wash clothes. Centrally located, easy walk to mercado and bus station, there's a mini super just beside it. I had a great stay, and it’s highly recommended.

The town is far too busy, if you want peace and quiet stay closer to the gardens.

True rainforest environment, and lovely mountains surrounding the town of Xilitla, exceeded my expectations. That town itself is run-down, without many restaurant options. So, staying outside of town near the Edward James gardens, really makes sense.

We were wondering whether we should visit Xilitla and now we are so glad we decided to go! Had a great time, would have regretted not going. Driving there and from is another experience, with winding roads in the mountains and beautiful scenery. Xilitla is a small but very busy village, with local food and very friendly people. Not too many tourists, amazing nature. The surrealist garden is also worth visiting.

A magical place. Get a guide at James sculpture garden.
A magical place. Get a guide at James sculpture garden. It's worth the small expense. The Carrington museum is lovely. Talk to Ruben at the Mimi Mask Museum. He is an interesting person who knows a lot about the town.

Xilitla had some charm, at the central square you can find some good restaurants, for example Querreque (best salad so far in Mexico). If you want to visit las pozas it’s a nice base. I can imagine the hotels surrounding las pozas in the middle of the jungle must be even better than the city center.
The breakfast was actually pretty good and when you add that to the rather cozy and quaint ambiance of the dining area it made having it a really neat experience. You really feel you're a part of the history of the place most everywhere you go inside of the building. The location of La Posada El Castillo is also pretty ideal! True, it could be a bit of a challenge getting up the hill to the square for some people. But, once you do you are right on the main plaza directly in the heart of the little town of Xilitla.
Beautiful wall murals and special artistic designs all around. Wonderful views. The owners are very nice and helpful, especially Alejandro, who went above and beyond to tell us about how the hotel got built, places to explore, and he even went with us to a mirador close by to explain more about the plants and animals of the jungle. Breakfast is not included but you can go to the small restaurant right across the street which one of the family members from the hotel owns. Good Internet service.
This was perfect for what we needed. just a cozy little hotel for one night with a great price. We left pretty early in the morning so we were in bed early as well but there was an adorable terrace patio I would have loved to have a couple drinks on. Next time! Staff was very nice and helpful. the room itself was again exactly what we needed for the night. clean and comfortable. Walking distance to town with one HELL of a hill to walk up but I enjoyed the exercise. 10/10 recommend.
the property has a very unique and welcoming feeling to it. the rooms are comfortable and clean, but the “hidden” gem is the terrace on the top floor with gorgeous views. The staff/ owners get an extra special shout-out, I’ve never stayed in a hotel were I’ve felt so welcomed and taken care of - I had a flat tire and the owner personally came out to change it and take it to get it repaired, and when that was all over he gave us home made tamales, which were delicious!
The location was great, right at the main square and in our case, we had a great view to their main church and with the mountains on the background. The sculpture garden was very close also. The owners of the hotel have a small restaurant a couple of meters away with good and cheap food (full menu for ~65 pesos + drinks). There is airco which is very nice in the hot evenings (at night it cooled enough to have it off, but it was winter).
Beautiful house, from my room you could see the sunrise from the bed, the most delicious home cooked breakfast in bed with local products and the sweet amazing and helpful host, Eva and her cute and funny daughters. Thank you for making me feel safe and at home in your home, and for introducing me to your community and beautiful nature!
There’s so much to see and do in Xilitla and I will definitely come back <3
Everything looks as in the pictures, the hotel is very nice and peaceful. Continental breakfast was basic but good and they have other breakfast options for an extra free. There was purified water available all the time to take to the room, the pool area is very nice. Luis made sure we had everything we needed, he was running the extra mile on everything BIG THANKS! The rest of the staff was very nice as well.
Everything in this hotel is amazing but the most Important part is the hosts and the energy.
It is located in the middle of a magical piece of nature.
The food in the hotel is amazing, we ate once outside and never again.
We become friends with Carlos and Adria the hosts, and it was a big part of the experience.
I highly recommend it and I'm really waiting for the next time.
There was a very nice view from our window and small balcony. There is also a nice view from an outlook on the top floor. There is an onsite restaurant and bar, but it was out of service. Many rooms are on upper levels, and there is no elevator. The staff was friendly and helpful. The small pueblo magico of Xilitla is well worth the effort to get there.
I did not like when I arrived at the hotel it was a party in a very near by bar, creating a lot of noise and do not be able to sleep at all, I requested change the room and there were bedbugs that bite me in the arm and in the face creating a very bad allergy, I left the hotel immediately and contacted the booking to request my reimbursement.
The property has a beautiful terrace with a view on the surrounding mountains and jungle. It is right in the middle of Xilitla and about 30 minutes away from Edward James’ surrealist garden, 15 minutes from the cave El Salitre.
The staff (Carlos) were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
Fantastic historic house in the centre of Xilitla with easy access to Edward James garden and Leonora Carrington museum.
Excellent breakfast. Excellent resources related to the life Edward James and garden available.
The location of the hotel was great, with excellent views of nearby mountains and walking distance to all the main sights in the town. The hotel was very well maintained and the staff were friendly.
