Historic Melaka (or Malacca) is the capital of the Malaysian state of the same name, home to one of the country’s first sultanates. The replica of the sultan’s palace is one of the city’s top attractions.
The end of the sultanate came with the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in the 16th century. Reminders of this period include part of A Famosa fort, and there is also a fort built by the next settlers – the Dutch. Several Dutch churches also remain, including Christ Church with its pinkish façade.
Nowadays, Melaka is a melting pot of various cultures, and Chinese temples – such as wonderful Cheng Hoon Teng – sit happily alongside Hindu temples and mosques. The most spectacularly located of the latter is Masjid Selat (or Malacca Straits Mosque), on stilts above waters lapping an offshore island.
Many Melaka hotels on Booking.com are near the promenade lining the narrow city beach, and others are near more secluded beaches in the suburbs. The Melaka River splits the city into 2, and the further inland you travel along it, the more traditional the buildings become.
Just before the river’s first bend is Jonker Street, the heart of Chinatown and popular for its night markets, while a good few miles to the north is Melaka Airport in the Batu Berendam district.

Ever since local authorities closed the main road towards Mahkota. And also some access street road near Jonker walk during weekends. This has made some inconveniences to motorists. Lot of road diversions and spiking of car park charges. All these to me otherwise most of us inconveniently travelling around the said area. Hopefully some improvement can be done in future to come. Thank you for reading this.

Local Souvenir stalls were not fairly treated, and the shops was not given fair chances to be visited and appreciated by all tourist local and foreign alike. If only the distribution cakes fairly opened up, perhaps buyers and customers from abroad as well as locals can be exposed to better offers and competitive chances from souvenirs sellers in the overall atmosphere.

The city is clean and offer a number of interesting tourist attractions and variety of food outlets. Jonker walk, Melaka river cruise and Malaysia Heritage studio and Kg Morten are few places worth putting on visitor’s list. However, I think the Malaysia heritage studio seems somewhat lacking the truly Malaysian heritage as visitors are greeted by the wax statues of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Mr Bean wearing local costumes. We enjoyed visiting some of the traditional houses, but there are some that were disappointing (eg Rumah pahang, terengganu, johor). The performance was fun and enjoyable.
There are a number of museums and historical buildings that
look interesting too nearby Jonker walk.

Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Besides being a heritage city it was alive and bustling with excitement at every corner - like walking the streets of Paris.
I loved the river ride at night. Makes one feel like you on the Venice waters ( just not a clean river ).
Their souvenir photos were however very expensive and the tour recording was not clearly understood .
The Melaka Straits mosque was really special.
I would definitely like to be back.
Lots of bargain shopping 🛍️
Location was perfect, just a 5 minute walk through Little India to the river and centre of town. Room was quiet.
The hotel was nicely designed and reception was friendly and helpful. The parking behind the hotel was great.
The room was clean and comfy, the bed was firm as expected in Malaysia but comfy. We didn't use the rooftop pool but it looked good.
Breakfast was a buffet with toast, cereal, roti, curly fries, chicken curry, noodles and I think a few more things. All was nice.
Liu Me is an excellent boutique hotel. It exudes nostalgia and style from the moment you enter. The peranakan interior along with paintings from local artists and decoration was like entering a art gallery. The room was superb and service was what one would expect from a five star hotel. Breakfast, although a simple menu, the air-well seating area was a pleasurable experience. We plan to return next time we visit Malacca.
The hotel was in a good location accessible to shopping mall and eateries. My family is very happy with the room size and the cleaniness. Communication with the host on the process of checking in was very smooth. I am very happy their response were very quick and prompt which is very important to me. Will definitely consider to stay here again if I drop by Malacca in future.
THE PLACE IS NICE! It is clean, AC is working, Smart TV has netflix, hot water is working, kitchen was clean. And plus IT IS INSTARGAMABLE. I choose this place cuz it is just right across Mahkota Medical Center. Walking distance 5 mins to the hospital, it also has shopping malls near by, so it is easy to find foods. I would definitely stay stay here again if I visit Malacca
This is not our first time staying in Hotel Puri Malacca, we always book this hotel when we are panning to Malacca for vacation. Beautiful hotel, vintage with historic feel. It provides car park for their guests & well equipped with CCTV with security monitoring the car park. Good location in the heart of Jonker street. Highly recommended 👍
The room was super clean and the location was a good walking distance to the main attractions and restaurants. We really appreciated the free water dispenser and the fact the hotel kept our bags at reception on check out day while we explored more of Malacca. The staff were really helpful and adhered to all our requests.
The room is clean and spacious.
The location is strategic to go to city center and tourist attraction places such as Riverside, Malacca town centre, Hard Rock Cafe, Jonker Walk, Museum, Morten Village etc.
Parking space: A lot of parking space in the hotel.
Location is gd. Near to city center. My children luv the bathtub. Loc at shop house, pharmacy walking distant, atm at petronas station ( 5mins walk). I will repeat stay on my next visit. Even i frequently visit malacca at other hotels, i prefer coastal park.
the staff and the location, we had a mistake on the date that we reserved the hotel they changed the date for us but the problem was although on the website there was an on going promotion but they called us from booking.com to change the payment amount
good view from the room but a bit far from to old town, however, you can walk along to the river till the old town and street arts.
Also, the hotels were connected to the mall. Where you can buy food or they have a restaurant inside the hotels.
We make a late booking, I have travel with little children, location is great. View is fantastic with sea view and part of Malacca town. Free parking for unit book.Easy to collect key card and parking as long as you follow instructions.
1) Very calm & peace indoor hotel environment
2) Friendly staff
3) Decent room & breakfast meal
4) Clean and nice hotel decorations for taking pictures
5) Strategic location, in the midtown of Bandar Hilir (tourist spot)
The location is so near to Asam Pedas Claypot and Jonker Walk and there is dobby next to the hotel, very recommended if you planned to visit Malacca. The staf is so helpful and greatful, Definately will come again
Everything - room, cleanliness. Has smart tv in the room when most 5 star hotels don't even have that. Great value for the price. Short distance to town within 10-15min depending on traffic.
All the staff were absolutely delightful and so helpful. The hotel is right in the heart of old Malacca. Lots to see and do right there. Very quiet room. All very clean. Plenty of hot water.
Love the hotel, the deco, the vibes, perfect for our stay in Malacca. Near to the town, ample parking space, comfy bed & clean. Definitely will come back again.
