The female owner is really friendly and provided helpful hints where to have dinner nearby or where to go out for a walk. We got a map of the "Loonse en Drunense Duinen", a natural reserve which is worth a visit. At a Sunday or national holiday, however, it is recommendable to arrive up to 10 am because because both biker and liker are fond of these area. "Hoeve de Mertel" has a small shop where own products and cheese from local producers are sold.

We had a lovely stay at Natuurpoort. We had our car so it was easy to get to and from, and only a 10 minute drive from Efteling which was perfect. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms, which was clean & comfortable. The breakfast was a nice selection (it is continental if you're wondering - breads, cheese, ham, yoghurt, fruit and orange juice). The grounds are also lovely, with scenic views, it's very peaceful. We also had a beer in the bar one evening which was nice. Nearby, in Loon op Zand, there are plenty of restaurants and a supermarket - you can walk in 15-20 minutes or a quick 5 min drive.
All the staff we encountered were very friendly, I recommend staying here if you're visiting Efteling or just want to be off the beaten track in nature 😊

Nice, friendly hotel with some of the windows looking right into the stables. The kids were extatic. Pleasant restaurant, helpful staff, everything was to the expectations. If anything, then I would have welcomed a bit of a change for breakfast selection, as we've stayed for 4 nights, but it was still ok.
