the niu Dairy, hotel in Haarlem

Set in Haarlem and with Keukenhof reachable within 15 km, the niu Dairy offers a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar.

The hotel is modern, clean, relaxed and friendly. The bed was comfortable and all facilities in good condition. The room was spacious and could easily have accommodated a comfortable chair and a second bedside table rather than the bean bag and a tiny shelf on the wall. We were allocated the wrong room when we booked in but that was corrected the following morning and we were given complimentary breakfasts for our stay as compensation which was very nice. The hotel is close to the bus stop to the station and to the centre of the old town. There are plenty of dinner options within a short walk. Haarlem is a great place to stay to visit Amsterdam and the surrounding area and towns. I would highly recommend the hotel.

Location is great. Unfortunately, I must have hit a bad day/room. No towels were available. The TV and reading night didn't work. As I was there for only 1 night, I had an early night. Breakfast was good to have.

Anegang Boutique Hotel, hotel in Haarlem

Situated in Haarlem, within 20 km of Anne Frank House and 20 km of Royal Palace Amsterdam, Anegang Boutique Hotel offers accommodation with free WiFi throughout the property.

I booked a couple of nights here with my mom to spend some time sightseeing and going to Keukenhof. The hotel is in a great location and there are plenty of restaurant nearby. There are only 6 rooms in the building and we had a room on the 3rd floor. Please note that there's no lift and stairs in these type of building are really steep. We were ok as we only had small hand luggage with us, but if you have bigger luggage you might struggle a bit. When we arrived we had some issues with gaining entry to the building on the entrance door, however their customer service were quick to answer and to direct us to the spare keys location. Once in we had a key card that we used to regain entry to the building and we continued to use the app to get into our room without further issues. The rooms are modern and really clean and well equipped with what we needed. Overall we were really happy with our stay and it's definitely good value for money.

Haarlem is beautiful in it's own right with lots of historic buildings, and charming streets which have been greened with tree, shrub and flower planting. There is the Frans Hals museum to visit, and much more. Take a walking tour of "Monumental Haarlem" Haarlem is also very conveniently situated for Amsterdam and surrounding areas. We used public transport all the time. Just swipe on and off the bus or train, and everything is taken care of. Really simple, and it all works smoothly. We also found some really good restaurants for our evening meals.

Haarlem is a wonderful city to stay in as it has the canals, lots of history, good shopping and plentiful restaurants. The Grotemarkt has the oldest organ in Europe which Mozart played on and Corrie Ten Boom’s house(who hid the Jews in WW2) is better than Anne Franks! The very first museum in the Netherlands is also here-Teylers. The Saturday market is wonderful. It is only 15 minutes by train back into Amsterdam and you have a better feel of regular Dutch folks in this beautiful town.

    First, I really liked Amsterdam.

First, I really liked Amsterdam. But it was really really crowded, even the first week of April. Then, when I got to Haarlem, I realized it was similar to Amsterdam, with all the old world Europe charm, old buildings, & canals, but not the hordes of crazy tourists. I ended up liking Haarlem better than Amsterdam! Even better than Rotterdam, and maybe the Haag (except I only spent a few hours there). Easy to walk everywhere, and I rented a bicycle and rode all the way to the beach and back on easy, nice separated bike paths. Also, the bike riders are not as aggressive as in Amsterdam. So as an American tourist, in my 50s, I felt perfectly comfortable riding my bike all over. Of course, you still need to be hyper aware of oncoming cyclists and cars… also, they had a secure bike garage near the main central Plaza, where you could lock your bike for free, with a guard watching over it. If you left it overnight, you had to pay something. So I was able to lock my eBay inside there while visiting main attractions in the plaza, like the church with the pipe organ. I will definitely choose this as a base next time, instead of Amsterdam. I considered staying in Leiden too, but never got a chance to go there.

Haarlem is a beautiful safe city with plenty of lovely restaurants and bars. Walking is the best way to get around the city . I would recommend hiring bikes and cycling out to Zaandvort which is completely along a cycle path to a stunning beach. There are plenty of museums and the windmill is worth a visit . There is also a food market in the square on Saturday morning

Haarlem in my opinion is a better place to stay than Amsterdam. It is a more friendly setting. Amsterdam is easy to get to by train and see all the sites. I have been to the Netherlands several times and stayed in Amsterdam and other cities but prefer Haarlem. In the spring, Haarlem is close to the tulips which are a must see. It has its own unique tourist attractions.

absolutely everything!!!! We have been travelling around Europe for the last nine weeks and this is the best hotel we have stayed in! Lovely reception staff, extremely helpful and welcoming. Really spacious rooms, high ceilings, and great location. The beds are extremely comfortable and the hotel is quiet, even though it is full! I wish we had known about this hotel in Haarlem, we stayed four nights in Amsterdam before staying here…….if I had my time over again I would have skipped the stay in Amsterdam and stayed here longer.

Rooms were lovely, so comfortable, and quiet. The spa facilities (Sauna and steam room) were excellent. We dined at the hotel a few times and the food was great. Overall, an excellent stay and we would definitely go back. The hotel was a little ways from Haarlem center - but walkable or easy to hop on the bus for two stops (runs every ten minutes or so). And we enjoyed Haarlem so much more than over-priced and over-touristed Amsterdam.

The bar and restaurant is fantastic, the food is just superb. If you're looking for a slower paced holiday with a nice easy vibe, go to Haarlem. You can still get to Amsterdam in 15 minutes, Leiden in 20, and Alkmaar in 40 if you need to. I will definitely return and stay at this hotel.

Great location right in the center of downtown Haarlem. Right across the street from a beautiful church. Can walk to restaurants and bars within seconds. Parking is in a paid (33 euros a day roughly) underground garage that is very close to the hotel. Breakfast is worth the money because you get a pre-set selection of various hot and cold items. Room was very clean and spacious. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

We stayed for a week in the split level apartment. It was really quaint and comfy, and felt like a home from home. The children enjoyed using the cafe in the afternoon, and the atmosphere was always chilled. Location was fab and we would stay again!
