Leiden is a great place to stay.
Leiden is a great place to stay. It’s like staying in a mini Amsterdam without as many people. Lovely canals to walk around and lots of small individual places to eat. Very peaceful to stroll around with a lovely market held on Saturday and Wednesdays. We took one of the walking tours around the town which you can buy at the local tourist information office. Also enjoyed going up the Windmill, but be prepared for a steep climb down. Well worth a visit!

Lovely city to walk in.
Lovely city to walk in.
All the people we met and staff in bars and hotel were helpful and friendly.
Sadly only had time for one visit - to Hortus Botanicus- which was well worth the time.
Would plan to visit again.

Leiden and its surrounding offers you a lot if you like walking in beautiful old cities alongside canals. A windmill that is seemingly so simple can explain Dutch social history but there are many other interesting museums as well, and a very special botanical garden. Public transport is well organised (except on special days) and you can reach gems outside the city like Spinoza house or lakeside restaurant. The sea is not far away either.

Leiden is a wonderful historical town full of amazing buildings and canals with little streets, mews and squares to explore.
It has it all! Romantic, easy to get around, fascinating streets, lots of cafes, shops and restaurants, great museums, a windmill and a market day.
Wear comfortable shoes and just wander around.
The people are very friendly and it is a young town, as there is a university right in the centre.
Rembrandt was born here and you can see his old School and the studio of his artist mentor.
I soend three days and could have stayed longer.
The public transport system is amazing and it took 16 minutes from the main airport Schiphol into the centre of town by train.
You can use this to visit other towns and the beach nearby.

really pretty small town (after amsterdam) with extremely nice people.
getting around was easy!
i ate both nights at a greek restaurant (rodos good taste), walking distance from hotel, only because second day was monday, when most good restaurants are closed. i had gotten greek restaurant from the internet, really liked their food, and didn't know any other restaurants.
This clean and tastefully furnished hotel is situated in the city centre, 10 minutes on foot from the railway station. Lots of shops, restaurants and pubs around, a quay for boat trips along Leiden's canals is some 100 m from the door.
The staff are wonderful, very polite and friendly. Check in was quick and unproblematic, the system for unlocking the doors with an app on your mobile was new to me, but intuitive and very easy to use.
The location is amazing, alomst a minute walk from the central train station, supermarket and convenient store are right next to it, behind the hotel is a lovely place to walk and close to good restaurants.
Staff are friendly and welcoming.
The view from my room was good and shows the area behind the hotel with nice windmill and churches tops.
Cleaning staff was respectful as i was having meetings in early mornings.
The location was perfect. It was close to everything in the center of town. It is a way from Leiden Centraal, so we took a taxi to the hotel (about 20 Euros). It is close to the Saturday and Wednesday markets, a good grocery store, and to some nice restaurants on the canals. They have bikes to rent there, and they functioned well. The staff was nice in making suggestions and assisting with things we needed.
the bathtub!! very difficult to find the bathtub in the hotel at Leiden.
if you can walk by yourself with your luggage, this hotel locate at the center of Leiden, 5 min walk from the Leiden Central station. 1min walk to the restaurant and 24 hr small supermarket.
the hotel reception close at 21:00 but my arrival was 0:00. they kindly waited for my call to open the door. Thank you!!
Usually ibis hotels have great price/quality ratio. Location is very convenient - just 3 minutes walk from the train station and 10 minutes walk from the city center. The room was more or less clean and the staff was super friendly. There's an AC in the room and that was really helpful as the day was very warm. Also, there were enough towels and extra-pillows.
The room was very nice, comfortable clean and stylish, and the hotel is right in the centre of Leiden. The staff were very helpful.
Checking in was a bit strange at the start, as it was not fully clear how to use the automatic check-in, but after getting in it made sense and it was all ok.
I did not have breakfast, but the breakfast area seemed quite ice.
The shower and kitchen facilities were new. It seemed very friendly for those traveling on a budget. The location is great, right at the center of Leiden City Center. The steep stairs up to the first floor reminded me of Anne Frank's house. The heating was on the low side, but there was a room heater.
The rooms were lovely, clean and spacious, and the building was old and beautiful. The location was fantastic - wonderful street, very central and walkable to cafes, restaurants, the university, and Leiden Centraal. I would absolutely stay here again.
Great location and good value for money. Not the luxorious type of hotel but perfect location and decent accomodation with plenty of restaurants and sightseeing locations within walking distance. Just 6 minutes walking from Leiden Central Station!
This is an excellently situated hotel if you are visiting for a short time. It is within five minutes walk of the station, and then it's only a short walk to the centre of Leiden.
Nice location next to the central station, only a very short walk to the city center of Leiden. Nice rooms with a lot of light. Rather stylish. The staff was kind.
