Flørli 4444 Hostel, hotel in Fløyrli

Overlooking the scenic Lysefjord, this hostel is located next to the Flørli Stairs, the world's longest wooden staircase with 4444 steps. A ferry ride is required to reach this hostel.

Wonderful place, amazing staff, very welcoming and helpful. Sweet retro accommodation with everything one needs. My parents still talk about the fish we had for dinner at the restaurant. I took my breakfast outside to enjoy sun, silence, and peace, for sure coming back with visitors, and recommending it to all friends😍🇧🇻. We took fishing rods and caught some cod in the fjord❤️.

Verkshotellet Jørpeland, hotel in Fløyrli

Situated in Jørpeland town centre, Verkshotellet offers free WiFi and brightly decorated rooms with a private bathroom with shower. The hiking trail to the Pulpit Rock is 9 km away.

The hotel was in a very good location , we had a room overlooking the harbour which was picture perfect. In the corridor was a small kitchen unit which you could use, it had a kettle, fridge and coffee machine (filter coffee). If you like a good dinner with a fabulous garden and view over the bay just walk out of the hotel across the road to Villa Rosehagen, not cheap but well worth it. You are about a 10 minute drive away from Preikestolen.

Wathne Camping, hotel in Fløyrli

These basic cottages are 35 minutes’ drive from Stavanger and 10 km from the village of Tau. Each offers free Wi-Fi, a kitchenette and private bathroom. On-site laundry facilities are available.

We stayed here after a hike to Preikestolen. If you have a car it is very close to the village of Tau (about 10 minutes) and not a lot more until Preikestolen. We loved the cabin and the surroundings, it had a beach with mountains all around and it is possible to rent kayaks and even fish if you bring the gear. It was good that, even though it was a camping, they provided bed linen and we just need to bring our own towels.

It's a stunning and convenient location next to the harbor, we even were able to start a hike right outside the door. We really appreciated the coffee machine and having a washer and dryer, as well as the responsiveness of the host when we had an issue with the door and some other questions.

This is not an easy place to get to. It is only accessable on foot or by boat. It is well worth the effort of you are looking for some amazing outdoor experiences and appreciate nature and all of its wonder. I will be returning to this wonderful place again.

We had a rental car from Stavanger in order to see sights in Norway on our own timetable. We bought our ferry ticket to Fløyrli hostel and on to Lysebotn, keeping in mind the days it does not run. We landed at 2 pm and used the afternoon to see the compound and hike the Flørlineset Opp loop - about 3 hrs return with stops, lunch. Next day we did the 4444 steps up the maintenance stairway for spectacular views of the Lysefjord. Then on down the trail back to the hostel, stopping for lunch and enjoying the views. We took about 5 hours total and had cold beer at the restaurant before another great meal there. Next day we took the early ferry to hike to Kjerag. All worked out well for the timing. Hostel and staff are great - its a unique place, warmly recommended!
