As the end of the Geiranger Fjord, the village is constantly under a constant flow of tourists coming with the huge cruise ships.
The village per se has nothing else special versus other Norwegian villages on any other fjord, but this constant movement of people from the ships gives it the opportunity to be super busy and even more expensive than the normal expensive Norway.

It is probably one of the nicest areas of Norway, and the Geiranger Fjords should be visited by everyone when in Norway.
Despite the distances involved, visitors should get out and about, driving cars there requires some skill and attention, but the roads are well maintained. (Watch out for hikers and bikers!).
A day trip to Alesund is also recommended!

Geiranger is one of the most attractive destinations in the world , the nature itself is a reward and what i suggest is that the concerned authorities can add more services here and there to meet the needs and the expectations of all tourists from all over the world , like more supermarkets , more shopping options etc

Nice little village but very touristy when cruise liners are in. Limited choice of restaurants. Lots of tourist goods shops, boat trips available along with kayaking etc. A nice place to chill for a couple of days.

The cabin was well equipped with microwave, oven and kettle. The place is clean and the bathroom was very spacious. The space was just nice, compact but not too small. There was also laundry in the bathroom and dryer close by. This was a real plus as I was travelling around Norway for over 25 days.
The location was 5 mins from town and the road to and from town was very easy. Great location with beach view

So many natural beauty places to see around here, and hikes to do. I would recommend hiring a boat for fjord exploration at your own pace. Taking a short drive to the Dalsnibba viewpoint is a must, as well as to any of the other close-by viewpoints. Walk the steps next to the powerful display of water flowing into the fjord. Take a canoe/kayak and see the many waterfalls from up close.
Ian was a lovely host who took great interest in helping us with our cycling itinerary (and understanding the weather dependencies of such an endeavor in Norway). He was kind, ensured we were warm/clean/fed (for our early ride up Dhalsnibba) and was kind with a good sense of humour. We'd happily stay again for the views alone, but the company, comfy space, and time away from the hustle and bustle of the town below was well worth trekking up the mountainside at the end of our longest day on bikes ;)
Amazing view of Geiranger fjord. We hired a motorboat at reception for 2 hours which was perfect to tour the fjord. The staff on site were amazing. This was the best customer service we had in Norway. September was a great month to visit. It rained one day which made the waterfalls more impressive. The next morning, we woke up to blue sky and snow on the top of the mountains. The cabin was absolutely spotless and the bathroom beautiful, equipped with a rain shower.
The location above the centre of Geiranger was incredible, and the view over the Fjord was amazing. Access to many of the hikes in the area is great - if you're planning to do the Storseterfossen, Vesterasfjellet or Losta hikes it's a perfect location.
The cabin had all the basics we needed for a short stay and was clean, beds were comfortable. The bunks were large enough for our adult sized teenagers
Our stay was absolutely amazing from the start! We absolutely appreciated that the hotel picked us up from the port (in a Porsche) and drove us to the hotel and then brought us back into town and gave us recommendations and dropped us off at the top of the waterfall, also near the Union Hotel, so my parents could see the car museum. The dinner was amazing and the views were spectacular!!!!
Great location up in the mountains with the view of the Fjords from our sit out area in the balcony and large window view from our dining table ! Cute equipped kitchen and had many options for nature walks with well detailed markings and details at the reception desk ! Dont miss glorious high edge view of the cliff on a short 1.6 km walk behind the hotel!
Incredible location! Perched on the hillside overlooking the Geirangerfjord. Perfect spot with many hiking trails starting at the accommodations. Great food at the restaurant with a memorable view. Sheep, goats and lamas were a bonus! Living area was nice and big for our 4 adults, kitchen was well equipped, bunk beds were big and bathroom was good.
I liked everything about the stay. The view was outstanding!!! There was a view from the room, the restaurant, and the hot tub. The breakfast was great. We also went kayaking, which was reasonably priced next to the hotel. The staff was really helpful. I also loved being slightly farther away from the tourist area.
Without question, the view of the fjord from our room was the highlight of our stay in the hotel. The view of the fjord was beautiful and it was great to see the ships coming and going. Staff were friendly and food was good. The rooms airy and the heated floor in the bathroom was a pleasant surprise.
Excellent place to stay in Geiranger. Very short drive to all activities in the city.
Amazing facility including a pool with great view.
excellent breakfast
nice game area for kids
close to beautiful hiking treks no need for the car.
beautiful waterfall and visitor center next to the hotel
The view from our room of the fjord was spectacular! I really enjoyed the little deck on our floor to sit and enjoy the magnificent scenery. The restaurant offered a wonderful menu and the food was so so good!
The staff was warm and very helpful. I would stay here again.
The view on the Geiranger Fjord was spectacular, the location was great and quiet, but not in walking distance to the village. The cabin provided all we had expected. We didn't use the shower and we knew, we had to share toilets with other guests.
adorable moss roofed hut in an epic surrounding landscape. perfect place to stay on trip to Geiranger- very close to fjord but escape the cruise ship bustle! one of our favorite places we stayed on our Norway road trip- would recommend to anyone.
the view from our cabin was breathtaking. a beautiful setting and a very spacious cabin. by far the best accommodation throughout our trip in Norway. would recommend for anybody and everybody looking for something unique and special!
View to the fjord couldn't be any better ... the Hotel's name "Utsikten" keeps its promises; ask for room with fjord view. Own (limited) number of parking places. Nice breakfast buffet.
This was the best place to spent one night during our 14 days trip to Norway, Denmark and Sweden! The owner was very friendly and helpful. The room is very nice with great view.
Great hotel. Beautiful views. The spa was very nice and open till 10:30 pm. It was lovely falling asleep to the sound of a waterfall. Breakfast was great.
