Crow's Nest Apartments, hotel in Cooks Beach

Crowsnest Apartments offers self-contained apartments overlooking Mercury Bay, just a 2-minute walk from Whitianga town centre. The rooftop sun terrace features 360-degree views of Whitianga.

The apartment was very spacious and had a balcony which offered a view of the sea in the distance. The open plan kitchen was very well equipped. We liked the fact that there was a washing machine and drier in the property, as well as off road parking, and its close proximity to the marina meant that we didn’t have far to go for local bars, restaurants and activities.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't great for our visit but we still did all the things we wanted to do for our trip. A little disappointing that there weren't more choices for cafes eating out, quite limited.

A very relaxed environment, with lots of family friendly activities. Lovely beaches, bush walks and close to other interesting towns and coves. It's connection to the history of Captain Cook was fascinating

An excellent place to stay if you are interested in Captain Cook's voyage to New Zealand in 1869. The Endeavour was anchored here for 12 days to observe the Transit of Mercury and had numerous, mostly positive encounters with local Maori from Ngati Hei. The whole area is spectacular with the added bonus of sites of enormous historic significance. These include Kupe's landing place (Whitianga) so it is a beginning point for Maori and Pakeha.
