Greytown Campground, hotel in Greytown

This was our 3rd stay with Greytown campground, but first time not in a tent. The Shepherds Hut was super cozy and cute, the kids loved it. Bench beds are a tiny bit narrow, but fine. The cabin was perfectly located close to the amenities. The campground itself is perfect for walks to Main Street, the local lido, and the grocery store. We’ll definitely be back!

Hidden Gem, hotel in Greytown

Set in Greytown in the Wellington region, Hidden Gem features a patio and garden views. Featuring a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a picnic area.

There are three gems here. The room is spotlessly clean and huge, more than enough space even for two people. Enough privacy due to separate entrance. Comfy bed, well-maintained compound, many little treats you won’t find elsewhere, delicious breakfast. But on top you have to look far and wide to find people as nice, interesting and open-minded as your hosts Elise and Alastair. I had a special request, which they addressed quickly and to my utmost satisfaction. A 10 well deserved, these hosts make the guest truly feel home away from home. Thanks a whole lot.

one of the best villages in the world. Shops, Cafes and restaurants are divine. Close to other villages - Masterton, Carterton and Martinborough - so lovely all of them. Our hosts recommended Apertivo - spectacular. Also they recomended Roadrunner - incredible new Vineyard Restaurant! Clareville has an amazing cafe also - not far from Greytown...

We visited Greytown for a garden ramble which we enjoyed. The town tends towards high end customers and is perhaps expensive for many. The heritage features make it appealing as a visitor choice and it’s central locality suits it to being a hub for your visit.

    Easy walking around the town.

Easy walking around the town. Very pretty small country town. Lovely shops and eateries. Very friendly people. We were made to feel very welcome wherever we went. Handy to many short beach locations ie: Castle Point lighthouse, Lake Ferry, Cape Palliser, Martinborough and surrounding districts for wine gin and olive tastings. Great supermarket in Greytown.

I had been staying at Castlepoint but needed more time in the area to explore the shopping in Featherston and Greytown. There is so much to do and see that I would have liked to be there longer. I was impressed with the helpfulness of the staff in the two towns who pointed me in the direction of the places I wanted to visit. Great dining and shopping in Greytown and Featherston and plenty of day walks nearby.

A long Cook Strait ferry delay saw us arriving into Greytown at 1am, very tired. Our spirits were so revived when we saw how lovely the Greytown Loft is. Plenty of space, great bathroom, comfortably and sumptuously decorated. Everything we needed, and more, was provided to make our breakfast the next morning. Quiet and private but super handy to the lovely Greytown village and short drives to other Wairarapa towns. A lovely stay.

We had a most enjoyable stay in Rosebud Studio, a lovely little cottage and complete privacy. It suited us brilliantly, and we would happily stay there again. The location was pretty central in Greytown, but the studio was behind Lavender Cottage itself, so we did not feel exposed to the main road. We had a short walk to the shops and cafes. Very much enjoyed our meals at Cuckoo and the Greytown Hotel.

A quaint, tiny but very cleverly-designed and comfortable cottage in historic Greytown. We slept soundly and then took the opportunity to visit the nearby settlers' museum - a recreated township using various buildings and artefacts from days gone by, with helpful, entertaining staff in period costume. A thoroughly enjoyable one-night stop.
