Earthbridge, hotel in Hikutaia

Earthbridge is a country house nestled in the rural Maratoto Valley, 10 km from Hikutaia. Continental breakfast is supplied.

The bush, the quietness and rustic charm. We loved the feel of the place, its warmth and decor. Such a pleasure to be somewhere that strives to be at one with nature. Wonderful breakfast provisions and the homemade sourdough was lovely.

Great house, comfy bed, genial hosts, fabulous breakfast, absolutely 10/10. David and I played a frame of snooker ( he's pretty good - watch out ) and he drove me to the ANZAC service in Paeroa the following morning. Anja is a great host, keeping a meticulous house, and serving an excellent breakfast, with great coffee. Lovely views from the balcony top off a great visit.

Nice and peaceful, although you can hear some road traffic.

Nice and peaceful, although you can hear some road traffic. Nothing much in Hikutaia itself, but only a 10 minute drive to Paeroa with lots of food options, and about 30- 40 minute drive out to the wonderful walks, waterfall and abandoned mining ruins in the karangahake gorge. Also nice and dark at night for star-gazing

Earthbridge is a gem of a rural hideaway.

Earthbridge is a gem of a rural hideaway. The hosts, Tim and could not have been more hospitable and the breakfast provisions were outstanding. All toiletries, kitchen equipment etc is provided and we often lit the fire outside to heat and enjoy the outdoor bath under the stars. Our hosts showed us the best swimming holes and nearby walks. Earth ridge is currently off grid but that may change soon.
