We were upgraded to a room overlooking the lake. Breathtaking views! The room was spacious, underfloor heating in the bathroom, and heated towel rails. Bed was comfortable. We stayed just 1 night, but it was memorable - thank you 😊

Location was great room was under whelming. Room was nothing like what the website looked like bed was a double and terrible so soft you rolled out of it. Bathroom was disgusting and dated. Rooms were more like a backpackers than a hotel. Only redeeming feature was the 10% of the cafe food which was excellent

Great place to visit beautiful view.
Great place to visit beautiful view. Colour photos turn out fantastic due to lighting, lake environment colours. Sky at night best I've seen. Rented large house for our family gathering. In advance Contacted Four Square Tekapo they offered to cook chickens, make vegetarian dish, supplied all our food. Also made salads supplied breads, deserts, drinks. We were so pleased with the service this store provided. Perfect. Would of loved to stay longer.

Lake Tekapo is beautiful and very relaxing but only needs a couple of days to be seen thoroughly.
There's a pleasant, flat walk along and above the shoreline that's not too taxing for younger children and there are trails and hot spring pools for older kids/adults. There's also mini golf or ice skating, depending on what time of the year you go.
Shops are very limited and those available are overpriced - if you are staying self-catered, try to bring food with you or eat out. Thoroughly recommend 25 degree - they don't take bookings so you'll need to get there as they open (for dinner) or be prepared to wait/come back later.
Another downside is the inconsiderate behaviour of some of the other tourists - if you're trying to get any decent photos of the Good Shepherd church or stars, you'll need to go very early/very late or find a secluded place for night photos. Some people seemed unaware that this is a spot for limited light so had car headlights on full whilst sitting outside the church - which made our photographers trip a bit wasted.

Only stayed in Lake Tekapo because I wanted to walk on the Hooker Valley Track. It was reasonable accommodation a good hour away from Mount Cook. Loved our accommodation in Wee Mack and enjoyed going to the Hot Springs after our long fantastic walk to the Mueller Lake glaciers. Wanted to see the stars but it was either cloudy or the moon was too bright to get that dark sky/ full of stars effect. The Summit sky activity has to be booked at least one month in advance.

Lake Tekapo is a beautiful location, with lots to see and do.
A car is needed to see the full extent of the Lake and surrounding districts.
There is a lot of choice from self-cook to takeaways and eat-in restaurants. Something for everyone.
It is very clean, well equipped and thoughtfully decorated. Everything is so homey. The accessible bathroom is a bonus for our elderly family members. The host is also very kind and responsive, sending us reminder and everything we need to know. Among the eight different accommodations (motels, serviced apartment, hotels etc.) I stayed during my 2-week New Zealand trip, this place is on the top two :) Highly recommended!
Our stay in Lake Tekapo was enjoyable, with an easy check-in process and responsive hosts. The accommodation offered comfortable beds, spacious living room and kitchen areas, and the added convenience of a bathroom in each room. The peaceful location was within walking distance to the town center, and while the shared driveway could be tight for larger vehicles, it didn't pose a significant issue.
We had a lovely and very comfortable stay at the Galaxy hotel in Lake Tekapo. The view was spectacular, definitely the highlight of this hotel. Everything was very clean and the staff made us feel very welcome by taking us to the room and making sure everything was up to standard.
The bath was an excellent touch especially with the view being visible.
This was a great place to stay at in Lake Tekapo. I was there for one night and it had all the things I needed. The room even has a mini fridge, electric kettle, and dishes. For a short term stay, would highly recommend. Can't beat the price and the location.
O love that place! The check-in is quick, the staff is helpful. You have a beautiful view of Lake Tekapo. Appliances working as should be, beds are comfy, and nice bbq area. The room was clean and it was a good price for what the place offered.
What a pleasant surprise our stay at MacKenzie Suites was! Our room (the barn) was roomy and cozy. Upon arrival, my name was on a blackboard outside of our room. Heated floors in the bath, a super view of Lake Tekapo…….
Excellent all around!
Really felt looked after, pleasant real old school Kiwis own this, & you felt like a guest, rather than a number. It has large rooms, the bathrooms are really private unlike most cubical backpackers, you get a whole bathroom to yourself.
Superb clean and nicely decorated. The location is at hillside with a glimpse of the Lake Tekapo. The owner is very hospitality and thoughtful. We enjoyed a beautiful morning with a cup of nice Nespresso.
Close to Lake Tekapo, a short drive to one of the most photograph church in the world by the lake. A good stop Over to or from Mount Cook adventure road trip
