We had a family unit which turned out to be a separate building with four bedrooms. It was huge. Quite basic, but great value.

This is a historic gem. Beautifully restored with period features intact. It was peaceful and the dawn chorus of the magpies was beautiful. I recommend the books about the history of the family and the property. The bathroom with a big deep enamel bath was bliss.

Such a cute cabin to stay in, perfect for one night stay on the way to Rotorua from Wellington. Easy to find and super friendly staff who made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed for the night. Amazing stars to see as I went to the bathroom facilities which is a short walk form the cabins. Food came quickly and was served with a smile. Got to pat the goat and ponies on my way out which was very sweet.

Property was absolutely amazing couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay such a cosey apartment really felt like home . The Host was so friendly couldn’t do enough for us from the minute we got there until we were leaving . Everything you could have needed was there down to makeup wipes ,the host really went the extra mile with all the little touches not to mention delivering the most stunning homemade breakfast to the room . We were delighted to meet such a lovely host really made our stay .

Leah is an exceptional and friendly host. Everything was spotless and comfortable. It was a cold night with a frost in the morning but the heat pump warmed the room perfectly and we were very comfortable. Breakfast was varied and more than sufficient. We like a quiet location and Hopwood is the quietest we’ve ever stayed in, even quieter than home. We will be back.

Spacious place in a nice spot. A great opportunity to show a few farm animals to our baby daughter. Our host was very attentive to our needs and did everything to help us.
