FAQs about hotels in Queenstown

Adrenalin with a Capital Q

Welcome to New Zealand’s adrenalin capital! There are a mountain of possibilities for your pleasure including bungee jumping, rafting, jet boating and skydiving. Overlooking the calm waters of Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by peaceful mountains retreats like The Remarkables and Walter Peak, Queenstown is also party town with many cosy bars and cafés.

The best panoramas can be enjoyed when you take the Skyline Gondola up to Bob’s Peak on Ben Lamond. Breathe in the fresh alpine air when you walk or mountain bike the Queenstown Trail to nearby Arrowtown.

It’s not time to relax yet as there is still skiing to be done in the picturesque ski fields of Coronet Peak or The Remarkables and canyoning at Routeburn Canyon. Hang gliding, paragliding and abseiling are all here too!

Bring yourself back to ground level with a picnic lunch while enjoying the pristine wilderness that makes this city so eye-catching. If more intimate surrounds are your domain, then a string of high-class restaurants are available in the city centre.

Booking.com has massive variety of accommodation to choose from in Queenstown including hotels, apartments, lodges and B&Bs.

Since visiting 5 years ago, Queenstown has changed so much!

Since visiting 5 years ago, Queenstown has changed so much! So many more things to do & it’s just beautiful! I enjoyed our stay and the limitless things that you can do, especially with children! Would definitely recommend!! Really enjoyed King Pin arcade and the Beef brisket tacos at El Camino Cantina (the restaurant right outside). The Queenstown mall was a great place to explore on foot & the Cookie Bar never disappoints! Also CANNOT go wrong with the classic Ferg Burger 🤤 We didn’t get to take the kids on the Gondola & Luge due to the fact they were sick but would recommend that too!!!! From our trip 5 years ago, memories are still vivid and still as memorable as ever!

When flying into Queenstown, it was so unreal, like a going to another world. Beautiful scenery, fresh air, it felt so peaceful. It's friendly and quiet, I've never been to a place like this. Enjoyed the gondola ride and a nice yummy lunch at the restaurant. Enjoyed the restaurants, walking along the lakeside and seeing many people. There was a market day with many great stalls selling crafts, jewelry and food. Great vibe 😁

We stayed out in the Five Mile shopping development in Frankton, near the airport. But we have been to Queenstown many times before and it is always a great place to come to. Some much beauty and lots of fun things to do. Just be aware that on-street parking in the downtown Queenstown area is impossible, so select one of the parking garages accessed from Isle Street. Cost is typical for New Zealand-- expensive. But you'll be better off parking in one them then spending our time driving around looking for a place to park.

Queenstown is a stunning place to visit for scenery.

Queenstown is a stunning place to visit for scenery. There are many activities to participate in. I participated in a 5 day cycle ride on excellent trail which were well marked and maintained. It's easy to walk around the town, even at night. Lots of eateries. The town was upgrading roads from the airport but it was well managed and causing minimal inconvenience. There is a bus to and from the airport to city which costs $2 NZD a trip (with a Bee card which can be purchased at the airport for $5 NZD).

Queenstown is a beautiful place and we toured around the area by car. So much to see and views are just amazing. Queenstown is a great place for adventure. You can go on the Gondola and then ride down on the luge. We went on the Shotover Jet which is so fast and exciting. Also went in the OLSEN spa pools which was very relaxing and looks over the valley. There is so much to do and if you are an adrenalin junky, then this is your town. Be prepared to spend money as the cost of food, accommodation and the tours etc are expensive. Great place to visit

The staff at reception were very friendly and accommodating + the cleaners were also very friendly when we occasionally ran into them heading in-and-out on our day-to-day activities. Overall we found the rooms to be fairly spacious compared to similar hotels at similar prices. Only a short walk to the center of Queenstown. They had purchasable kits from reception for convenience (toothbrush & toothpaste or Shaving kits) and a nice catalog of things to do in Queenstown stationed on a table inside the apartment.

This property exceeded my expectations, it might be slightly further from the centre of Queenstown than some other places but it's still short, and it's a lovely flat stroll along the edge of the lake to get there so definitely a lot easier than hiking up the hill to most of the other hotels after a day of skiing! The bathrooms appear to have been renovated since they took their booking.com photos, the rooms are spacious, the beds comfy, the staff helpful, location's great and the price is super cheap!

Central location right near DOC office and pick up for Routeburn. Very clean and comfortable. Love the pods with their private roller blind. Slept well. On the strength of this stay I’ve also booked into Lylo Auckland. Laundry facilities onsite. Kitchen was cramped but serviceable. Queenstown is super expensive would recommend the Bakery nearby on Shotover St for cheap sandwiches and pastries. 2 supermarkets a short 10 minutes walk away for tramping refuel.

We love staying in The Rees Hotel & Luxury Apartments. I am always a bit anxious when travelling with families. But I'm glad we had a decent stay for 5 nights. The hotel apartments are beautiful and the food at the restaurant was delicious. Kids' meals were NZD12 in a big portion(See photo fish and chips). Hotel service was great! The location, the views, and everything else were just wonderful! Highly recommended it if you are going to queenstown.

Everything about our stay was perfect. The cottage was superb. We could not fault the facility and position. So cosy. Every convenience was catered for. We loved how close it was to Queenstown and the airport yet out of the congestion which is Queenstown central. Our hosts Daniela and Andre were wonderful, they provided a breakfast to rival any 5 star hotel but their pleasant, informative company sealed the deal. My favourite stay ever!

A room with a lake view eg. a balcony is well worth the extra. The hotel is a 5 min drive into central Queenstown however there is not a lot of parking there. The hotel provided parking for our rental car. A stunning lakeside walk of approximately 15-20 minutes is the best method to reach central Queenstown. The hotel reception staff were extremely accomodating and very friendly.
