Loved all the beautiful antiques and period pieces. We really felt immersed in the history of Reefton. It was like staying in a museum. And Jenette, our host, was most kind in posting back my trousers which I accidentally left behind! Thanks Jenette!

On a South Island trip. First time in Reefton which is a nice place to stay. Plenty to see and do.
Our accommodation was the best we stayed in on this trip .Stayed in 7 other places from Picton to Wanaka..
Great Town with a lot of History! Take the time to have a wander around and soak up the atmosphere from the early days.
Fantastic Tearooms with delicious food and the Dawson Hotel provided us with a very entertaining night>

Noisy, probably due to been almost fully booked.
Noisy, probably due to been almost fully booked. No one available for check in. Keys set out with names on a table. Didn't see staff for my entire stay. Security a concern for me as anyone could access the building

Things to do: Blacks Point Museum, The School of Mines, bargain hunting/antiquing (three second hand shops), angling, gold panning, tramping. Very friendly people. A compact town, everything is within walking distance.
The Reefton Power Station/Scheme is well worth visiting. The old Reefton power scheme (established in 1888) that provided electricity for Reefton's street lighting, is being reinstated. Much of the work has been done, and a 220 kw plant will soon be in operation. The water intake and race are along the Inangahua River, just upstream of Reefton, and can be accessed from Rosstown Road.

There is so much to do in Reefton: many walks, cycle ways interesting secondhand shops, a great art gallery, a gin dispensary, a museum and an information centre which offers free, short historical movies. The Bearded Miners on the main street are very informative and there are great pies! Dawsons Pub has excellent food. Locals are very friendly and helpful. You need at least 2 days to experience Reefton.

A very friendly town that is steeped in history.
A very friendly town that is steeped in history. There is a lot to do in Reefton and it's surrounding area.
There are several second-hand shops with a wide selection of goods.
The Reefton Information Centre is very helpful.
We particularly enjoyed a viewing of the Reefton School of Mines, which was accompanied by a very informative talk that lasted around 1 hour, as we viewed each exhibit.
We liked absolutely everything! Every small detail like full and trim milk in the fridge, leads and chargers for the mobile phones. Books and magazines.. The fire set ready to light, the beautiful linen, soaps and the continental breakfast with superb condiments. The excellent Reefton restaurants are a small walk over the town bridge. We were hugely impressed by the trust the owners have with so many beautiful curios and art for guests to enjoy.
Lovely old home, inside was beautiful. Garden area was great. Facilities were very good in kitchen and bathroom.Showers were very hot water. Bedroom was a good size and bed comfortable. Everything there seemed well organised and ran like clockwork. Reefton itself was so lovely. Old shops, Hotels, cafes and the bearded mine were all great to visit. Loved our stay and the town, plus the drive there was beautiful.
Accommodation was beautifully put together with each of our 4 couples having their own bedroom and en-suite. The decor was exceptional and the house itself provided us with every convenience for our use. The cafe next door was where we had our included breakfast consisting of full English or toasted muesli, both being of a very high standard. Would definitely stay here again.
It is worth going to Reefton just to stay at Harold House. The historic home has been lovingly restored and is every bit as beautiful as the photos. And the breakfast was amazing. I never wanted to leave. Very close to the Main Street and only a couple of km from the spectacular Blacks Point museum.
Location was good, and easy walk over the bridge into Reefton, good meal at the local pub.
Rooms were big and airy, lots of books wished I'd had more time to read them, nice big shower head good sized bathroom, comfy bed and very quiet.
We really enjoyed the nice warm fire & the board games on offer. A very nice cozy house, which stayed very warm even through the cooler nights. Highly recommend Wilsons Hotel for a great meal, especially the lamb shacks & pork belly.
This is a lovely 1 bedroom house. Very comfortable, with excellent amenities. Walking distance to restaurants. Reefton is a town with visiting. We would definitely stay here again, at this property, to properly explore the area..
Lovely house very clean and tidy didn't want for anything everything was spot on.As a bonus we loved Reefton and the little knick nac shops etc and such friendly locals. Will definitely come back
We are four 70's plus ladies 🤗
Old style front half of house bedroom ensuite living room small kitchenette and large front veranda for afternoon sun its great accommodation in a good location a couple of minutes walk into town
It was fresh, clean, comfortable and warm with a well equipped kitchen plus spacious living area. The house is in a quiet street but still within easy walking distance of Reefton's main street
Good spot in Reefton for our two night stay. The lounge/living room was a lovely sunny spot and the full kitchen was useful. Easy walking distance to points of interest around the town.
We didn't have breakfast - no time. Lovely old Hotel, our room had a sunny deck and it was close to everything. Very comfortable bed with extra pillows available. We will be back.
Communal facilities great for us as we met up with family there - enjoyed meals together as well as visiting Waiuta, Black's Point Museum and Reefton School of Mines together.
