Lovely laid-back and friendly little town in fantastic location and with great amenities. It’s got everything you need - shops, choice of places to eat and drink, lovely estuary with beaches for swimming when tide is in, and a great ocean surfing beach. Got a great little art gallery well worth a visit, and very helpful tourist info next door to library. Boat trips, including to Cathedral Cove direct from town - and lots of great beaches and other places visit just a short drive away. We loved Sailors Grave beach just 10 minutes drive.

Loved the relaxed atmosphere.
Loved the relaxed atmosphere. My father in law(1902-1997) used to say that Tairua never knew the Depression was on, meaning life went on as usual, plenty of seafood to eat etc. it had the same feel today.

Tairua is in a beautiful setting within easy reach of Hot water Beach, Hahei beach, Cathedral Cove and Cook’s beach which is a lovely safe bathing beach. Don’t miss Shakespeare Cliff for spectacular views over Cook’s beach and Whitianga. Take the little 5 minute passenger ferry from Ferry Landing over to Whitianga for a nice lunch spot.

We loved the walks, lookouts, friendly locals, spectacular views, helpful people at the Tourist Office and great weather. The speedboat out to the Aldermen Islands with Coromandel Adventure Tours was a highlight.

Tairua is a great gateway town to the Coromandel but also perfect to stay just in Tairua, plenty to do: surfing, walking (beach & bush), climb Mt Paku, wonder around the estuary, go paddleboarding or kayaking.... or just relax. It's a lovely low key place....makes you relax

Tairua was a friendly coastal town with a small population, yet had all the things a traveller requires. Things such as a swimming beach, boat ramps, fishing opportunities . A number of fast food outlets(Thai take away, local bakery , hotel, wine shop and a well stocked Four Square store. ) Thoroughly enjoyed the vibe of this small town
My husband and I loved The Boat House! What a setting in the beautiful little town of Tairua. This is a large spacious guest house, with a balcony with an excellent ocean view. Tastefully, and very nicely furnished with everything we needed. Our only complaint is that we only planned one night to stay in Tairua. We would’ve loved to spend the week there! Our host Bev was so nice, and very accommodating.
Excellent provision of cold breakfast foods - no readily available cooking ability/stove, but microwave and toaster were sufficient. The multi-level outdoor jacuzzi and garden with seating and views was a bonus, as was the view of the ocean tides below. The owner provided all amenities to be found in the finest hotels - first class - and the garden was adorned with many tasteful ornaments.
Amazing location, amazing view. Ruth was super lovely and friendly, very accommodating and helpful.
Offered to drive us into town since there is no taxi or uber service in Tairua. Even made breakfast for us both mornings. Was around and helpful but we felt free to be ourselves and do our own thing.
We loved the location of the property and great facilities, especially the spa pool and big outdoor area which had all the right touches. Lynn and Dave were very hospitable and gave us some great tips on things to do in and around Tairua. We will be back!
Absolutely a 10/10 stay. The room and amenities were fantastic and the breakfast was above and beyond my expectations. Lovely hosts, I would love to stay again if I need a place in Tairua. A great private spot after our wedding 😉.
We loved everything about Tairua Treasure! The views are to die for, and ‘ everything’ and I mean ‘ everything’ required in a holiday home was provided. We all agreed! We also loved Steven Seagull (Seagal) who was a the cutest!
Big deck, comfortable rooms, lots of amenities available to guests and well laid out. Great to be able to do laundry free of charge as we are on a month long holiday travelling about NZ.
Tairua Shores was close to the harbour and had a lovely outdoor setting which overlooked the water and boats. The unit itself was clean and secure. The bed was super comfortable.
Location was great.
Room was spotless & lovely and warm.
Staff/owners were welcoming and friendly and proactively asked if we had visited Tairua before and offered ideas.
Lovely staff, kindy offered late checkout without us asking.
Just love that we were aloud to bring our little dog! So refreshing to find a pet friendly place.
nice and well-equipped unit in pretty Tairua. great on-site manager. fast wifi. great free parking. kitchenette with full fridge. comfy bed. nice private patio.
