Stay, stay, stay :) Comfort, convenience, friendly service and great facilities. What more could you possibly want. The staff go above and beyond to help you have a great break, and are free with helpful advice and directions. Accommodation was great, food great and location great. At night time it is not wise to walk around town alone, so you need to use the restaurant for dinners, and this is a little pricey - but what price safety? It is perfectly safe to walk around town during the day - in fact you will be showered with friendly greetings. Book the tours through the reception desk - there are many wonderful ones to choose from depending on your interests.

There was so much to do and see once we engaged with the tour company to do land and sea tours activities that were pricey but ultimately worth it. The tour guide was very helpful and professional who made our trip memorable and a great learning experience as he organized with the local knowledgeable villagers to take us through the sites on the land tour. Highlights included Mt Tavurvur climb, cooking wild fowl eggs in the hot springs, visiting the oberservatory, Japanese underground hospital and barge tunnels and swimming with the dolphins. We made sure to carry some cash to purchase local arts and crafts from the villagers at places we visited. Staff and people were very friendly and made our short stay pleasant. Looking forward to the next trip to do the other activities.

We & 2 other couples stayed at Gazelle International Hotel and all nicknamed it 'Fawlty Towers'. Very disappointing overall. Other friends stayed at Kokopo Beach Bungalows and the food, facilities and general atmosphere were far superior when comparing the two.

Without a doubt, the countless, leisurely, in depth conversations with the friendly local people are what made this stay immensely fulfilling. I also greatly appreciated that the people of PNG haven't sold out to the temptation of over-commercialized tourism that is now sadly seen in so many parts of the world. They are instead working hard to preserve their culture and traditions, while allowing a few fortunate guests to observe and share amongst them.

Kokopo and Rabaul have some of the top tourist attractions in the world. The locals respect the law, keep their towns clean, always willing to help a stranger. Very lovely people. Local food is great. I would go there again.

Our bungalow was very comfortable and we had a great day out on the excursion that we booked through the hotel. The lunchtime and evening meals were tasty. We appreciated the complimentary airport transfer and shuttle service.

A small hotel in the centre of Kokopo - close to the bus stop and local market. Staff friendly, reasonably clean, fenced and patrolled by security guards. Not overpriced.
