Quite central location to explore both Maramures and Rodnei mountains. For Rodnei, use old lift in Borsa - easiest way to get close to its ridge. But be aware that one day trips in mountains are demanding - downhill pathways could be really steep and demanding.

Very comfortable beds. We were greeted with great warmth, a cup of coffee and a palinka on the house. Only a five minute drive (or less) to the Mocanita station.
