Extremely clean and friendly, English well-spoken, no risk even for a single - female - traveller to be outside the streets on her own. For a European Flower Dome can be a disappointment and also the Zoo was not as fancy as expected. I liked the streets, the warm evenings, Sentosa beach, the wide choice of foods, smells and tastes, green everywhere, great and cheap transportation, my Hotel (Parkroyal on Beach Road - highly recommended)...
While Singapore is a more expensive destination - you get value for your money! It is clean and beautiful. There are a number of free activities available - provided that the weather is not as terrible as it was for my trip. The MRT is convenient and cost-effective and my favorite part of visiting. The Michelin star chicken rice was not as amazing as I was told so don't make a special trip to eat it - or try it and decide for yourself! The highlight of my trip was Universal Studios (of course it was on my bucket list).
Singapore is a great city to stay for a few days up to a week. There is an amazing selection of restaurants encompassing East and West. It is now open with mass only required on public transport such as buses and the underground. It is a good city to explore on foot, and there are many areas to see such as the Marina Bay Sands area, the East Coast, Little India, Orchard Road, the Botanical Gardens and Holland Village. The Singapore Zoo is also well worth a visit, as well as the famous hawker and good centres.
It is a very clean country. Lots of pretty festive street decorations for Chinese New Year, and they sure don't do things by half, with every building trying to out-do the next. The public transport system is extremely well designed. Trains and buses are immaculate, frequent and efficient. BUT... you cannot top up your stored-value ticket with a non-Singaporean debit/credit card! You can only do it with cash, NETS (bank card) or a Singaporean debit/credit card. Even so, ticket machines that take cash are few and far between. Favourite shopping centres : VivoCity and ION Orchard. All the retailers and restaurants you want in one spot. Highly recommended place to visit: 1. Walk along the Fullerton Bay in the evening to get a beautiful view of Marina Bay Sands. 2. Gardens By the Bay - do the 2 domes during the day, and walk the SuperTrees by night, cos they are beautiful. 3. Jewel Changi Airport - the iconic water feature is a sight worth the visit. Highly recommended coffee shop: 1. YY Kafei Dian (37 Beach Road) for authentic typical Singaporean breakfast - toasted homemade buns with butter and kaya (coconut jam), 2 half-boiled eggs and coffee/tea/beverage for $4+. The coffee shop also offers lunch menu and another stall selling Hainanese Chicken rice from 11am. 2. Wildseed Cafe (Alkaff Mansion) - Instagramable cafe that serves pretty food that tastes as good as it looks. 3. National Kitchen by Violet Oon (National Gallery) - Gorgeous restaurant with professional service staff, and awesome food. Overall, this is as vibrant a garden city as everyone has claimed!!
It is a really clean and nice city if you have loads and loads of money. The food was great and cheap at least ... but the hotel room? Oh my... prepare for a real kicking! I'd never go there again just because of how expensive it is. It's really not worth throwing hard earned money away on Singapore. Go to Thailand or Indonesia. Skip Singapore until it becomes cheaper and they start to beg you to come back!
Very friendly staff. Overall very clean. Rooms are very spacious for Singapore and the TV had chromecast integrated. Bedding was very comfortable for my taste. They accommodated my request for a vegan breakfast and overall very supportive. The pantry was great with free coke, RedBull and other soft drinks as well as small snacks. But it is quite pricy even for Singapore, but you are very close to Orchard Rd. and the rooms are larger compared to most other hotels in the area.
Hotel was basic but great for what we paid, we used it as a stop over between flights and having stayed in Singapore earlier during the holiday this hotel is a little bit far from main attractions but looked like it had lots of local restaurants to try. The bed was quite hard and personally I don’t think I could have taken it for more than one night but for the price, if you are looking for a basic room in Singapore this does the trick!
Every staff member with whom we came in contact was attentive and kind when I took my family for my son birthday celebration. I would like to express my thanks and appreciation for the excellent service & care we received at The Barracks Hotel from time to time. We had a wonderful staycation and I would definitely recommended this to all of my colleagues, friends and family. Thank you again for such outstanding service:-)
The room was large, bed was comfy and it had a great swimming pool!! Right next door had a food court with good local selection. Staff were very friendly and helpful! I will definitely make this our singapore hotel! We have stayed at other hotels that were a similar price but were no where near as nice!
My wife and I stayed at 9 different hotels while touring Southeast Asia, and the Jen Tanglin was one of our favorites. The facilities are clean, modern, luxurious, and conveniently located; and the staff are exceptionally courteous and helpful. I would return to Singapore just to stay at this hotel.
This us a great place for your money. The facilities are clean the staff is attentive to your needs, the food is great. Very centrally located to all downtown and all the tourist attractions, And the view from your room is to die for. I highly recommend this Hotel to anyone visiting Singapore.
Coming from Amsterdam, we missed our flight connection to Jakarta, so we were forced to stay in Singapore for one night. I just looked for an affordable hotel to spend the night and have a quick view of Singapore. We did not make use of the facilities, so I can not review on that.
I have stayed in so many hotels in singapore and this is the best one yet! The hospitality of the staff is amazing! the room is cosy and the bathroom is 100%, the food is good as well and the services provided are the best i have ever had. Thank you!
The location was great, next to two metro stations, little India and the very trendy arab quarter.Easy to get to the main attractions around Singapore and its a 20 min taxi from the hotel.
OMG! The infinity pool, deck, and surrounding views are unsurpassed in the world for hotels. It is truly a one of a kind hotel, a must stay while in Singapore.
Very spacious room, efficient service, friendly employees, great location, left something in the room after check-out and was contacted by the hotel.
nothing, there was nothing positive about this place, that night mkst hotels in Singapore were overpriced tland they had decent priced rooms
location, helpful staff and great value for money compared to most hotels in Singapore.
I knew this hotel when I lived in Singapore
