A Capital City with a Small Town Charm
The charming Slovenian capital, Ljubljana is the only large city in the country. Dominated by the Castle Hill with Medieval Ljubljana Castle on top, the city is a picturesque Balkan mix of architectural styles, romantic bridges and scenic views.
Due to two major earthquakes in 1511 and 1895, which destroyed many buildings, the Old Town features a range of styles: from Roman period, through Medieval Baroque to Vienna Secession. Unfortunately my experience was affected by three days of rain. It appeared to me that the city was pleasant enough without being filled with enough sights for a three day visit. There was only one city tour (other than walking tours) on a little train that took you up to the castle.

This is not a boutique or historic hotel, but it worked just fine and is 4 minutes from the River. Staff was VERY helpful with issues. Breakfast was good but restaurant does NOT serve dinner. We got a deluxe room with balcony but it was very hot in the afternoons and evenings to sit outside and the chairs were hard to get in and out of. Good location

It might be out far away but there's a bus stop just across the road, bus 3 goes directly to the city centre. Ample parking is available in front of the hotel and it's secured by a gate. Close by is a gigantic shopping centre. Really spacious rooms, fantastic beds and bathroom. There was a tiny, handy kitchen and a nice table which makes this place ideal for work.
