The hotel manager was very friendly and helpful. She provided more useful information about excursion options in 3 minutes than had been provided by email in the previous 3 months (see below). She made us feel welcome and so I feel sad having to write the negatives in the rest of this review, as I do really appreciate her kindness and I can see she is trying her best.
The location is spectacular, there is no denying. The views from the main building, along with the access to Banana Beach are unrivalled on Principe - this is the biggest selling point.
Principe has so much potential. So does Belo Monte; the grounds are beautiful and the setting unlike many other places in the world, but the hotel itself is farcical. As you'll read below, there are just too many deal breakers.

The breakfast omelet that they individually prepare for you was large and had ham, etc. It was filling. The rest was not particularly impressive.

It‘s like one of the many countryside small hotels, I personally would not book. But this yes because it‘s a stylish old colonial Building and they have a Perfect Guide system to take you out to excursions by 4WD or to go their the beach hotel for 20€ which is a correct price. Not and issue except that the menu card is not very big.

The experience was really good. The location is right in the middle of the jungle (incredibel!) and the bathroom is a dream. Although, it's far a away from Santo António. The staff was really amazing. Thank you so much, Elizabete and Marlene for all the love and kindness that you gave to us. Breakfast and dinner were good.

We loved absolutely all: the location (like on the edge of the world), The view (so beautiful that can not be described, this has to be seen by oneself). Uninterrupted singing of all the birds (all in all 176 breeds counted on the island), day and night - it was so magnificent. The lovely hippie house with the view - the million dollar one! And above all "our man" on the island - Vivi. Always smiling and happy, helpful. Always there for us. And his wife Marisette, who prepared so delicious dishes for us and kept good company with smiles and talks. We did not share any common language, but who cares when there is a will to communicate. We managed well! And there were a Caipirinha guy and Pico Papagaio guy ( we could not remember their names) who were helping and smiling addition to our family in Principe. And last, but not least - friedly owner Chris, who helped us from afar. We are so thankful for this beautiful opportunity to stay in paradise with these beautiful people.
